What to do if the eyeball falls out

What to do if the eyeball falls out

Some people have severe protruding eyeballs, so people often feel that their eyeballs are falling out. In fact, this is not the case. If the eyeball really falls out, it will affect people's vision and may even cause infection. Some people have their eyeballs fall out due to injuries, and they need to go to the hospital for surgery as soon as possible.

Precautions

Proptosis often makes patients feel anxious, so patients' privacy should be protected and emotional support should be provided. Inspect the affected eye for trauma and corneal dryness. Do not press on the affected eye with gauze or other objects to remove factors that may cause corneal epithelial damage. If a slit-lamp examination is needed, the procedure should be explained to the patient and, if necessary, a full examination by an ophthalmologist should be performed. The cause of proptosis can often guide treatment. Do blood tests, such as thyroid function and white blood cell count.

Precautions

1. Try not to wear glasses when you can avoid wearing them.

2. Do more eye exercises.

3. Eat more foods that are good for your eyes.

4. Don’t look at the computer or read for too long.

5. It would be better to go outdoors and see the green often.

6. Maintain good sleep.

Daily care

1. Pay attention to the degree and direction of the eyeball protrusion, whether it is unilateral or bilateral, inquire about the medical history, and examine the general condition.

2. Comfort the patient, relieve his/her mental concerns, actively cooperate with the doctor to find the cause of the disease, and actively treat it.

3. Take medication as directed by your doctor, pay attention to the time, dosage and route of medication, and if surgery is required, provide adequate pre- and post-operative care.
