What should I do if my ears hurt when water gets into them while swimming?

When we are swimming or taking a bath, we often encounter the situation of water entering the ears. This situation is really a bit bad. When water enters the ears, a buzzing sound will be heard. This sound is really uncomfortable, and sometimes tinnitus or ear pain will occur. If not handled properly, the consequences will be very serious. So what should you do if your ears hurt when water enters them while swimming?

The first method is to tilt your head sideways so that the affected ear is facing downward. Do an up and down jumping motion, keeping your head in the tilted position, until you can feel the water draining out. This works very well, and in most cases 90% of the water can flow out of the ear easily.

Second method: If the above method does not work, you can try using a dropper or spoon to add 4-5 drops of water and drop them into the ear that has water in it. Hold for two or three seconds, then tilt your head and sideways so that the water-filled ear is facing downwards and repeat the first step. In this way, the originally stuck water should flow out along with the newly added water. Of course, if you are in a sink or shower, don't wait to get a dropper, just pour a few drops of water with your hands. Be sure to use fresh water; if you use dirty water as described in Method 2 above, you may cause a more serious ear infection.

The third method: If it still cannot be discharged, you can lie on the bed with the affected ear facing down. The water can gradually flow out after a few minutes.

The fourth method: You can also use a small cotton ball to plug the ear holes, and the moisture will be automatically absorbed by the cotton ball.

Fifth: If the above methods are ineffective and the ear is still painful, please consult a doctor without any delay.
