What types of porcelain braces are there?

Porcelain braces are a type of denture that is extremely commonly used. There are many types of them, the most common ones include nickel-chromium alloy porcelain teeth, titanium alloy porcelain teeth, platinum-palladium alloy porcelain teeth, gold-platinum alloy porcelain teeth, all-ceramic porcelain teeth, cast porcelain porcelain teeth, and gold-deposited porcelain teeth. Although they are made of different materials, they all have many effects and are more suitable for filling rotten teeth, correcting abnormal tooth development, correcting wide gaps between teeth, etc.

1. Types and characteristics of porcelain braces

1. Nickel-chromium alloy porcelain teeth

Material

It is composed of metals such as nickel, chromium, beryllium, and manganese.

Features

High strength and low price; very few patients may have allergic reactions.

2. Titanium alloy porcelain teeth

Material

Titanium, nickel, chromium and molybdenum and other metal components.

Features

The metal has high strength, strong bonding with porcelain and good color.

3. Platinum-palladium alloy porcelain teeth

Ingredients

Platinum, palladium, silver and other metal components.

Features

Corrosion-resistant, good biocompatibility, more realistic color, stable performance, and not easy to chip.

4. Gold-platinum alloy porcelain teeth

Material

Gold 90%, platinum 9.5%, palladium and other metal components.

Features

The bond between metal and porcelain is stronger, the edges are closer, and the color is more beautiful; but the price is higher.

5. All-ceramic porcelain teeth

Ingredients

A special, high-strength alumina or zirconia ceramic material is used as the core, and then the surface is porcelain-baked or dyed for finishing. All-ceramic restorations do not have the metal inner crowns necessary for metal-ceramic restorations.

Features

All-ceramic crowns have better translucency and are more beautiful, but are slightly weaker in strength and are mostly used for cosmetic restorations of front teeth.

6. Cast porcelain teeth

Material

The inner crown is made of lithium-based ceramic with a strength of up to 420 MPa. The process is to cast the prefabricated cast porcelain blocks at a temperature of over a thousand degrees into a restoration and then bake or color it.

Features

It is superior to metal porcelain teeth in appearance, the color is closest to real teeth, the inner crown has no irritation to the gums, and the reflection of light is closer to natural teeth.

7. Gold deposited porcelain teeth

Material

It contains 99.9% gold and is made using a special process. Its precision cannot be achieved using ordinary techniques.

Features

Better protect the tooth foundation, the crown and bridge have excellent tightness, good biocompatibility, and the porcelain color is realistic.

2. What are the indications for porcelain teeth?

1. Filling rotten teeth

Teeth that have many defects due to tooth decay or fractures are prone to falling off or discoloration if repaired with general dental filling materials. This phenomenon can be avoided by using porcelain crowns for restoration.

2. Correction of abnormal tooth development

For discolored teeth such as small teeth and tetracycline teeth, the shape and color of the teeth can be restored to the ideal state through porcelain crown restoration.

3. Correcting the wide gap between teeth

For some crooked teeth, wearing braces to treat them is expensive and takes a long time, which often affects work and study. If porcelain crowns are used for restoration, they can be corrected quickly, with good results and a relatively low price.

4. Therapeutic food inlay

Food inlay is mostly caused by poor adjacent relationship between adjacent teeth. A porcelain crown or two connected porcelain crowns (linked crowns) can change the morphology of the adjacent surfaces of the two adjacent teeth and reduce the phenomenon of food inlay.

5. Fix loose teeth

The loose tooth and the fixed tooth are connected together through a porcelain crown, so that the loose tooth can be fixed.
