What is the urine occult blood index?

What is the urine occult blood index?

From the clinical point of view, under normal circumstances, the indicator of occult blood in urine is negative. If positive or + is found during the examination, it means that occult blood in urine or urinary occult blood has appeared. In this case, B-ultrasound and other examinations can be performed to determine the true cause. In addition, you must abstain from high-fat foods, exercise more appropriately, and use medication for prevention if necessary.

1. What is the urine occult blood index?

The normal index of urine occult blood is negative. Guidance: If there is blood in the urine, it is hematuria. Generally, there are many causes of hematuria, such as inflammation or infection of the reproductive and urinary system, kidney stones, nephritis, urethral stones, etc. It is recommended that you seek medical attention as soon as possible for examination, such as urine routine, bacterial culture, B-ultrasound, etc., and then treat the symptoms after finding out the cause!

2. How to prevent occult blood in urine ?

1. Avoid high-fat foods

During the illness, you should avoid eating high-cholesterol foods such as (pig, beef, chicken offal) brain, liver, kidney, fish eggs, egg yolks, etc. At the same time, you should quit smoking and drinking, eat less meat, and avoid eating salty and greasy foods.

2. Multiple activities

Urinary stones include kidney stones, ureteral stones, bladder stones and urethral stones. When an attack occurs, the main symptoms include severe pain in the waist and abdomen, vomiting, nausea, etc. In order to prevent urinary stones and reduce the onset of stone pain, you should drink more water, eat less salty, sugary, and calcium-rich foods, and exercise more. Especially for long-term bedridden patients, they should be encouraged and helped to move more to reduce bone decalcification and improve urine flow.

3. Drug prevention

Adjust the diet appropriately according to the composition of the stones. For example, patients with oxalate stones should eat less foods rich in oxalic acid, such as potatoes, spinach, etc. Oral vitamin B6 can reduce the excretion of oxalate in urine, and oral magnesium oxide can increase the solubility of oxalate in urine. Patients with phosphate stones should follow a low-phosphorus and low-calcium diet and take ammonium chloride orally to acidify the urine, which facilitates the dissolution of phosphate. Patients with urate stones should eat foods rich in purine, such as liver, kidney and beans, and take citrate mixture or sodium bicarbonate orally to alkalize the urine and keep the urine pH above 6.5.

In terms of diet, eat less animal offal, spinach, tofu, peppers, nuts, salted fish, bacon, and salt products. In addition, you should eat more low-calcium foods and less dairy products because dairy products contain more calcium. Eat less sugar, because eating sugar will increase the calcium ion concentration, oxalic acid and acidity in the urine, which will also increase the chance of stone formation.

Due to the complex causes of urinary stones, the high incidence of stones and the easy recurrence after treatment, it remains one of the challenging problems facing clinical practice. Therefore, when taking preventive measures, we should try to consider the specific causes of individual patients and formulate preventive measures according to the individual.
