Why does gas irritate my eyes?

Why does gas irritate my eyes?

Everyone knows how serious the harm that gas leaks can cause to the human body. Once severe gas poisoning occurs, it may lead to the destruction of a family and the death of several people. Some people think that the smell of gas is very irritating to the eyes. In fact, this is exactly what the Municipal Gas Group has intentionally designed for the sake of protecting the personal safety of users. They treat the gas by using odorizing technology, and the odor is harmless to the human body. Once there is a gas leak, people will smell the odor and become alert, thus avoiding accidents.

1. Reasons why gas irritates eyes

The Municipal Gas Group introduced that in order to ensure the safety of gas use, all three gas sources have been odorized to serve as a timely reminder to users in case of accidents such as gas leaks. The increase in the concentration of odor additives may cause users to have an irritating eye reaction, but this additive is harmless to the human body.

2. What should I do if gas poisoning occurs?

1. Immediately leave the poisoning environment

If someone is found suffering from gas poisoning, the patient should be moved to a place with sufficient ventilation and oxygen. Patients with mild gas poisoning should be allowed to breathe fresh air. If there is an oxygen machine at home, they can breathe oxygen on the spot. Patients with severe gas poisoning should go to the nearest hospital for treatment.

2. On-site disposal is required

If the patient you find suffering from gas poisoning is in a coma, you should immediately call the emergency number 120, open the windows in the room to ventilate the room, keep the air circulating, quickly take the patient out and place him in a well-ventilated place.

3. Provide on-site rescue

It is necessary to promptly unbutton the patient's clothes, loosen his belt, and clear the secretions in the respiratory tract to keep the respiratory tract open to relieve the patient's pain. Then turn the patient's head to one side to prevent death from suffocation. Then, put more clothes on the patient and make sure to keep him warm. If you find that the patient's heart and breathing have stopped, do not panic. Immediately perform artificial respiration and cardiac compression and wait for the ambulance to take to the hospital.

4. Find the source of gas

Check the gas source at the poisoning scene and cut off the gas source. If you use pipeline gas at home, you should check whether the connecting pipe is aging; whether the flue of the coal stove used for heating is blocked or not, and whether the connection is not tight.

5. Blow deeply into the patient’s mouth

Use one hand to lift the patient's jaw so that the head can be fully tilted back. Use the other hand to pinch the patient's nostrils and use this hand to open the patient's lips. Blow deep air into the patient's mouth to expel the gas from the poisoned patient's lungs. If the patient has no response, he should be immediately sent to the nearest hospital for systematic treatment.

6. Find ways to eliminate safety hazards

If conditions permit at home, you can install a carbon monoxide alarm or use gas as little as possible to prevent accidents from happening again in the future.

7. Turn off the gas and carry the patient out

Cover your mouth and nose when rushing in, go to the kitchen to find the gas tank and turn it off, and then quickly transfer the patient to a ventilated place outdoors to prevent life-threatening danger.
