How to use an automatic breast pump

Breast pumps are not unfamiliar to many people, especially after giving birth, breast pumps are also widely used in your mind. There are mainly electric breast pumps and automatic breast pumps. When it is inconvenient for the child to suck milk, using a breast pump is a more direct method. Of course, you should also pay attention to the method. Different breast pumps have different usage methods. So how should an automatic breast pump be used?

1. Breast Pump

First of all, a breast pump can help you suck out excess milk when your newborn baby is not sucking enough, relieve the pain and pressure caused by breast engorgement, and prevent the occurrence of mastitis. At the same time, it can stimulate the re-secretion of milk and continuously increase the amount of milk. Secondly, it can be used to collect breast milk and feed babies who are premature or unable to suckle on their own. In addition, if your doctor recommends that you temporarily stop breastfeeding, such as if you are taking medication that may be harmful to your baby, or if you need short-term hospitalization and cannot breastfeed your baby yourself, expressing breast milk can help you maintain adequate milk secretion.

2. Electric Breast Pump

If you are using an electric breast pump, you just need to put the cup on your breast, turn on the machine, and it will automatically suck your milk into the connected container. Manual breast pumps also use a cup, but you use a manual squeeze or pull of a piston to extract the milk instead of relying on an electric motor. A well-functioning electric breast pump can usually suck out the milk from both breasts in 10-15 minutes, while a manual breast pump may take twice as long or even longer to complete.

3. Others

A good breast pump will simulate the movement of your baby sucking milk without causing you any pain. But the prerequisite is that you must choose a cup that fits your breasts and place it in the correct position, otherwise it may cause pain or insufficient suction. If you use a fully automatic breast pump, you may feel a strong suction at first. Although it doesn't hurt, it feels very strange, but you will get used to it slowly. Some automatic breast pumps can be hung on nursing bras, freeing up mothers' hands to do other things. Please remember to clean all parts of the breast pump carefully after each use to prevent bacteria from entering.
