What to do if you have frequent nosebleeds due to allergic rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis is a common disease in life. When suffering from allergic rhinitis, patients should pay special attention to many things that are prone to cause allergies. Although the allergens that can cause allergies are different, for the sake of their own health, they should try their best to avoid contact. Although there are many things to pay attention to with allergic rhinitis, it is not a cause of nosebleeds.

Allergic rhinitis is not the cause of nosebleeds.

There are many reasons for nosebleeds, including nasal trauma, dry scabs on the mucous membrane, damage from foreign bodies, excessive sun exposure, excessive drinking, etc. Frequent nosebleeds are a complication of the cardiovascular system, internal organs, various infections, blood diseases and other diseases. Many people often think that nosebleeds are caused by problems with the nose itself. This is actually a bit of a headache for doctors. Frequent nosebleeds should be diagnosed dialectically.

Treatment

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, the causes of nosebleeds can be divided into two categories: dryness and heat and weakness. Most people who often suffer from nosebleeds have both symptoms, which is what traditional Chinese medicine often calls yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire. When a nosebleed occurs, most people are accustomed to tilting their heads back with their nostrils pointing upwards. This is not only difficult to stop the bleeding, but the backward posture will also cause the blood that has already flowed out of the nasal cavity to flow backwards to the throat due to the posture and gravity, and will be swallowed into the esophagus and gastrointestinal tract, irritating the gastrointestinal mucosa and causing discomfort or vomiting. When the amount of bleeding is large, it is easy to be inhaled into the trachea and lungs, causing danger.

Correct method:

1. Maintain a normal upright or slightly forward-leaning posture and apply pressure to stop the bleeding. Even if there is a small amount of blood clot blocking the nasal cavity, it doesn't matter, the coagulation substances in the blood clot can help the blood coagulate. Blowing it out in a hurry can easily lead to rebleeding. Of course, if the amount of bleeding is heavy, seek medical attention immediately. When the nasal cavity is too dry, the capillaries inside will rupture, causing bleeding

2. From a clinical perspective, 90% of nosebleeds are vascular bleeding caused by blood vessel rupture. In this regard, patients do not need to be too nervous. In most cases, they can handle it themselves and stop the bleeding in time. Nosebleeds are not terrible, but if you are too nervous it can cause your blood pressure to rise and worsen the bleeding.

3. When you have a nosebleed, apply a cool towel to your forehead or nose to relieve the bleeding symptoms. You can also use your thumb and index finger to pinch the nostrils on both sides to stop the bleeding, then slowly release your hands after 3-5 minutes, and the bleeding will stop. You can also use sterilized cotton to block the nose, apply pressure to stop the bleeding, and then gently remove the cotton.

4. To prevent the indoor air from drying out, you can sprinkle some water on the ground or use an air humidifier.

5. Eat less spicy food and more vegetables and fruits, such as bitter melon, watermelon and other heat-clearing and fire-reducing foods, as well as nutritious, light and easily absorbed foods. In addition, you should get rid of the bad habit of picking your nose and develop a good habit of blowing your nose and rinsing your nasal cavity with clean water.
