How to prevent ear pain after using ear drops?

The health of the ears is very important. It is the main organ of hearing among the five senses of the human body. The special structure of the ears makes it more likely for dirt to accumulate in the ear canal, and it is very troublesome to clean. Excessive accumulation of these dirt can easily induce ear canal infection and lesions, causing pain to people. The treatment is mainly based on the use of ear drops, but the use of ear drops for ear canal inflammation will stimulate the ear canal and cause pain. Let’s take a look at how to prevent ear pain after using ear drops?

It may be due to the stimulation of drugs. Fungi are prone to grow and multiply in warm and humid environments. When water enters the external auditory canal or secretions are actively stored, or antibiotic drops are frequently used, the ear canal is more susceptible to fungal infection, most commonly Aspergillus and Candida albicans. Get rid of the habit of picking your ears, especially don't use unclean objects to pick your ears. Keep the external auditory canal clean and dry. Actively treat suppurative otitis media and effectively use various antibiotic ear drops. Remove all scabs and secretions in the external auditory canal, and apply 1-2% salicylic acid alcohol, 1-2% thymol alcohol, or 1:1000 alcohol to the ear. You can also spray nystatin on the external auditory canal or apply Daktarin cream. Try to keep your ear canal as dry as possible.

Step 1: Cover before dripping

In addition to hearing sounds, the human ear is also an important organ for maintaining balance. Some patients will store ear drops in the refrigerator (the temperature of the medicine is much lower than human body temperature). If they are dropped directly into the ear, the vestibular organ in the inner ear that is "responsible" for balance will be stimulated by the temperature and cause dizziness. To avoid this situation, before using ear drops, clean your hands with running water and soap, hold the bottle in the palm of your hand for a while, and then drop the medicine into the ear canal when the liquid is close to body temperature.

Step 2: When dripping: pull it

Sit up with your head tilted to one side or lie on your side in bed, with the "sick" ear facing upwards, pull up the ear backwards and upwards to straighten the external auditory canal as much as possible, direct the ear drops toward the ear canal opening, and drip in the number of drops specified by the doctor (generally, ear drops are administered three times a day, once every 8 hours, 2-3 drops each time. Excessive drops not only waste the medicine, but may also cause discomfort such as dizziness). When dripping the medicine, be careful not to touch the skin of the external auditory canal wall to prevent the dropper from being contaminated by bacteria.

Step 3: After dripping: press

After applying the medicine, maintain the posture for 3 to 5 minutes, and gently press the tragus (the protrusion in front of the ear canal opening) with your fingers 3 to 5 times to help the medicine reach the affected area directly.
