The liver is the most important basic organ for the human body. Its main function is to maintain the normal metabolism of the body. It is mainly responsible for breaking down harmful substances in the body and keeping the body clean. The liver is susceptible to disease under a variety of adverse conditions. Once the liver disease occurs, it will cause serious harm to the body and even life. Among them, liver mass is a relatively common disease. Let’s take a look at the symptoms of liver mass. Symptoms vary according to the cause of the liver mass Clinically, the causes of liver mass are divided into three categories: neoplastic lesions, tumor-like lesions and infectious lesions, and the symptoms of different causes are different. 1. Tumorous lesions : liver cancer Liver cancer often presents as pain in the liver area, among which pain in the right upper abdomen is more common. It is often intermittent or persistent dull pain, dull pain or bloating, which worsens as the disease progresses. It may also be accompanied by symptoms such as loss of appetite, upper abdominal fullness after meals, indigestion, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. 2. Tumor-like lesions 1. Liver cyst : There are no clinical symptoms when the liver cyst is small. When the cyst gradually increases and compresses the adjacent organs, corresponding clinical manifestations will appear: As the cyst gradually increases in size, it compresses the liver and adjacent organs and symptoms appear, such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, abdominal mass, jaundice, and even portal hypertension. 2. Hepatic hemangioma : There may be no symptoms when the tumor is small and it is usually discovered during physical examination or laparotomy due to other diseases. When the tumor grows to a diameter >5cm, a small number of patients will experience nonspecific abdominal symptoms, mainly manifested as liver enlargement or compression of adjacent organs such as the gastrointestinal tract, causing upper abdominal discomfort, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, etc. 3. Infectious lesions Liver abscess is a common infectious disease of the liver, which can be divided into amebic, bacterial, fungal and hydatid liver abscess, among which bacterial liver abscess is the most common. The main clinical manifestations of bacterial liver abscess are fever, chills and abdominal pain. 4. Treatment : 1. Benign lesions: regular follow-up or anti-inflammatory treatment If it is a benign space-occupying lesion, you can communicate with your doctor based on the specific condition, or observe and check regularly, or undergo anti-inflammatory treatment. 2. Malignant lesions--minimally invasive interventional treatment Malignant space-occupying lesions are liver cancer. In the early stages, surgical resection is the main treatment. For patients in the late stages who cannot or do not want to undergo surgery, minimally invasive interventional treatment can be used. |
