Definition of Mental Disorder:

Psychological disorder refers to abnormal psychological processes, abnormal personality traits and abnormal behaviors caused by physiological, psychological or social reasons. It is a person's inability to act in an appropriate manner recognized by society, so that the consequences of his or her behavior are not adaptable to both himself or herself and society.

When the degree of abnormal psychological activity reaches the medical diagnostic standards, we call it a psychological disorder. Psychological disorder emphasizes the clinical manifestations or symptoms of such psychological abnormalities, and does not regard them as diseases. In addition, using the term mental disorder is easily accepted by people and can reduce social discrimination.

Classification of psychological disorders:

Human spiritual activities are organic, coordinated and unified. From receiving external stimuli to responding, it is a series of interconnected and inseparable activities. Mental activity includes sensation, perception, memory, thinking, emotion, attention, will, intelligence, personality, consciousness, etc. Changes in any of these aspects can manifest as mental activity disorders, that is, the incoordination between various aspects of mental activity or the incoordination between mental activity and the environment can all manifest as mental abnormalities.

The most common mental disorders are anxiety, phobia, hallucinations, delusions, excitement, depression, mental retardation, conduct disorders and inability to adapt to the social environment.

Mental disorder manifestations:

1. Severe psychological abnormalities

Including schizophrenia, manic-depressive psychosis, paranoid psychosis, reactive psychosis, personality disorder and sexual perversion.

2. Mild psychological abnormality

Neurosis includes neurasthenia, hysteria, anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobia, hypochondriasis, and depression.

3. Psychosomatic disorders

Mental disorders associated with physical diseases include visceral diseases such as the liver, lungs, heart, kidneys, blood, endocrine diseases, collagen diseases, metabolic and nutritional diseases, postpartum mental disorders and cyclical mental illnesses. Psychological abnormalities caused by various psychosomatic diseases (such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, ulcer disease, bronchial asthma, etc.).

4. Psychological abnormalities in brain diseases and physical defects

It includes toxic mental illness, infectious mental illness, organic brain mental illness, mental disorders associated with intracranial infection, mental disorders associated with intracranial tumors, mental disorders associated with cerebrovascular disease, mental disorders associated with craniocerebral injury, mental disorders associated with epilepsy, mental disorders caused by extrapyramidal system diseases and demyelinating diseases, senile mental illness, mental retardation, psychological abnormalities caused by physical defects such as deafness, dumbness, blindness, and lameness.

5. Psychological abnormalities under special conditions

Such as psychological abnormalities caused by certain drugs and hallucinogens; psychological abnormalities caused by special environments (space, navigation, diving, mountains, etc.); psychological abnormalities in hypnotic state or certain special states of consciousness, etc.
