What to do if you have vertigo? This is the best way to treat vertigo

From a clinical perspective, there are many causes of vertigo, among which high blood pressure, low blood pressure, and irregular lifestyle are the main causes. Experts say that patients with these symptoms must treat rest and exercise correctly, build confidence, persist in exercising, and actively make comprehensive adjustments in diet, daily life, and mental aspects to ultimately achieve therapeutic effects.

(1) Proper attitude towards rest and exercise

During an acute attack of vertigo, bed rest is required. There are two forms of recovery after the acute phase. One is that the feeling of rotation is fleeting, or it is suddenly recovered after waking up; the other is that after the severe vertigo disappears, there is still dizziness, unstable gait, and fear of walking. If long-term bed rest does not work, patients should be encouraged to get out of bed and move around, which can not only help build confidence and maintain optimism, but also improve vestibular adaptability through exercise.

(2) Build confidence and keep exercising

Appropriate exercise is very necessary for vertigo caused by severe damage to the vestibular function on one side. It is even the only effective way to eliminate vertigo and rebalance the vestibular function. Some scholars believe that its effect is even better than drug treatment. The method is to select several movements and postures that induce vertigo, and practice them repeatedly so that the central nervous system receives abnormal stimulation many times and gradually becomes accustomed to it. The day when the abnormal impulse is transformed into normal impulse is the day when the vertigo disappears.

(3)Diet adjustment. The diet for patients with vertigo should be nutritious, fresh and light, and they should eat more eggs, lean meat, green vegetables and fruits. Avoid eating fatty, sweet and spicy foods, such as fatty meat, fried foods, alcohol, chili peppers, etc.

(4) Mental care. The mental care of patients with vertigo should not be ignored. Mental stimulation such as depression and anger can lead to hyperactivity of liver yang or internal movement of liver wind, inducing dizziness. Therefore, patients with vertigo should be broad-minded, optimistic, happy and emotionally stable, which is very important for preventing the onset of vertigo and alleviating attacks.

(5) Rest and daily life. Excessive fatigue and lack of sleep are one of the triggering factors of dizziness. Whether during or after an attack of vertigo, you should pay attention to rest and ensure adequate sleep. The symptoms of vertigo patients often decrease or disappear after waking up from a sufficient sleep. Furthermore, you should try to avoid turning your head and neck left and right, front and back. If you have inner ear disease, the change in head position may affect the vestibular system and cause dizziness. For patients with cervical spondylosis, turning or tilting the neck may compress the vertebral artery and affect blood circulation, reducing blood supply to the brain and causing dizziness. The stimulation of sound and light can also aggravate vertigo, so the room should be quiet, dimly lit, or you can close your eyes and rest.
