What are the hazards of nephrotic syndrome

Nephrotic syndrome is a relatively common manifestation of kidney disease, which is very harmful to patients. It is a chronic kidney disease that is difficult to treat. It can easily lead to infection, induce coronary heart disease, cause thrombosis in patients, and easily lead to acute renal failure. In addition to regular treatment, it is also very important for patients to have good conditioning on a daily basis.

First, it is very easy to get infected

Because a large amount of immunoglobulins are lost in the urine, plasma protein decreases, affecting antibody formation. The use of adrenal cortical hormones and cytotoxic drugs reduces the patient's overall resistance, making them very susceptible to infections, such as skin infections, primary peritonitis, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and even sepsis.

Second, it is easy to develop coronary heart disease

Patients with nephrotic syndrome often have hyperlipidemia and hypercoagulable blood, which makes them prone to coronary heart disease. Coronary heart disease has become another important factor in the cause of death from nephrotic syndrome (second only to infection and renal failure).

Third, blood clots are prone to occur

Patients with nephrotic syndrome are prone to thrombosis, especially those with membranous nephropathy, where the incidence can reach 25% to 40%.

Fourth, acute renal failure

Patients with nephrotic syndrome are often in a state of low blood volume and hypercoagulability due to massive proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, and hyperlipidemia. Vomiting, diarrhea, and the use of antihypertensive drugs and large amounts of diuretics can cause a sudden decrease in renal blood perfusion, thereby reducing the glomerular filtration rate and leading to acute renal failure.

The above is a detailed introduction to the common complications of nephrotic syndrome. I believe that most patients are now more aware of nephrotic syndrome. In our lives, we must take good care of ourselves, especially our kidneys. If our kidneys are not good, other diseases will occur.
