What are the symptoms of acute pyelonephritis

Pyelonephritis is a relatively common kidney disease, which is mostly caused by kidney infection induced by some pathogenic microorganisms. Patients often show some urinary system symptoms, which often lead to frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. If not treated in time, or the symptoms are more serious, it may even induce chronic renal failure. Therefore, patients must receive timely treatment to avoid causing greater harm.

This disease can occur in people of all ages, but is most common in women of childbearing age. It has an acute onset and varies in severity. Severe cases can develop into sepsis. The main symptoms are as follows:

(1) Systemic symptoms

Fever, chills, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, body temperature is mostly between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius, and can reach 40 degrees Celsius. Accompanied by headache, body aches, and profuse sweating when the fever subsides.

(2) Low back pain

Unilateral or bilateral low back pain, mostly dull or aching pain of varying degrees, a few with abdominal colic, radiating along the ureter toward the bladder, obvious tenderness at the costovertebral angle during physical examination, and positive renal percussion pain.

(3) Bladder irritation

Symptoms of bladder irritation such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. Some patients may not have obvious urinary tract symptoms. Those with hematogenous infection first have systemic symptoms such as fever, and then bladder irritation.

Acute pyelonephritis is manifested by acute interstitial inflammation and tubular necrosis related to infection. Patients have symptoms such as fever, frequent urination, urgency, pain when urinating, and bacteriuria. If there are no complicating factors, it can be quickly cured by using effective antibacterial drugs.
