Are there any symptoms of ear infection? What are the symptoms?

Ear diseases have a huge impact on the human body, especially the functional effects on the ears, which cause people to be unable to fully receive external sounds, resulting in decreased hearing and poor ability to obtain information. The main reason for the decline in ear functionality is due to ear inflammation. Let’s take a look at the symptoms of ear inflammation. What are the symptoms?

1. Earache: Acute cases may cause dull earache, which is often a symptom of the patient. It may be continuous or cramping. In chronic cases, ear pain is not obvious. This disease is often accompanied by a feeling of blockage or stuffiness in the ear, which can be temporarily relieved by pressing the tragus.

2. Tinnitus: It is mostly low-pitched and intermittent, such as "crackling", buzzing and the sound of running water. When the head moves or when yawning or blowing the nose, a sound of air passing through the ears may be heard, sometimes intermittently and then reappearing.

3. Hearing loss: decreased hearing and stronger self-hearing. When the head tilts forward or toward the healthy side, hearing may temporarily improve (positional hearing improvement) because the effusion leaves the cochlear conduction. When the effusion is viscous, hearing may not change with changes in head position. If one ear is diseased and the hearing in the other ear is normal, it may not be noticed for a long time and may only be discovered during a physical examination.

4. Causes perforation of the eardrum: After a patient develops otitis media, once the ear becomes inflamed, it will easily block the input of the source, causing an imbalance in the internal and external pressures of the ear cavity, and further development will lead to perforation of the eardrum.

5. Reduced hearing and even causing deafness: If otitis media is more serious, it will damage the ossicular chain and cause deafness due to lack of sound conduction. What is more serious is that the inflammation invades the skull and damages the auditory nerve center, causing gradual and complete loss of hearing.

6. Cause complications such as meningitis: Since the tympanic cavity is very close to the head, if otitis media is not treated in time, it is very likely to cause complications such as meningitis, brain abscess, thrombophlebitis and other serious diseases that pose a life-threatening threat. In particular, patients with severe high fever and respiratory failure must be treated urgently, otherwise they are likely to die.
