What is the normal platelet value

What is the normal platelet value

Platelets can be said to be a component of the blood. Many clinical examinations will include routine blood tests. Generally, routine blood tests will check platelets. Platelets may increase or decrease. If the platelet value is too different from the normal value, it should be taken seriously. It may be a platelet abnormality caused by disease, which requires timely examination and treatment. So what is the normal value of platelets?

1. The normal value of platelets is 100~300×10^9/L . A slightly higher value is normal in most cases and does not need to be paid attention to. It will decrease on its own. If the platelet count is higher than 1000×10^9/L, it can be diagnosed as thrombocythemia, which requires examination to find out the cause and provide timely treatment.

2. Platelet count

The platelet count refers to the number of platelets per unit volume. This value reflects whether the platelets can function normally. The normal value of platelets is 100~300×10^9/L. Too few platelets can easily lead to spontaneous bleeding, and bleeding is accompanied by difficulty in stopping bleeding. Such patients are at extremely high risk during surgery.

3. Primary thrombocytosis

Platelets are small pieces of biologically active cytoplasm that fall off from the cytoplasm of mature megakaryocytes in the bone marrow. Primary thrombocytosis is mainly due to the excessive cytoplasm lysis of megakaryocytes, which greatly increases the amount of platelets in the blood. It is common in myeloproliferative diseases such as chronic myeloid leukemia, polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, etc.
