What is the effective treatment for urethral caruncle?

Although urethral caruncle is a common disease, the treatment of these diseases must of course be taken seriously. Drug treatment is also necessary. Stimulant ointment can be used for external use. Another way to achieve a more thorough effect is through surgical treatment.

1. Drug treatment:

Proper supplementation of estrogen levels in the body is very helpful in treating the disease. Estrogen ointment can be used externally, with good results.

For patients with senile vaginitis, estrogen vaginal suppository can be used once a night for 10 to 20 days. Thereafter, treat once every 1 to 2 weeks until complete cure.

2. Surgical treatment:

Preoperative preparation:

1. Disinfection and anesthesia before surgery:

Instruct the patient to clean the vulva and empty the bladder by himself. The patient was placed in the lithotomy position, and the skin and membranes in the surgical area were routinely disinfected with 0.1% chlorhexidine.

Anesthesia can be achieved by dipping a small cotton ball in 2% dicaine and placing it on the urethral caruncle for about 5 to 10 minutes. For larger caruncle, 1% to 2% lidocaine can be injected at the base of the caruncle for anesthesia.

Instruct the patient to urinate, or use smooth, blunt straight or curved forceps to gently insert into the urethral opening to clearly expose the caruncle.

2. Gastrointestinal preparation:

Semi-liquid diet, no food or drink after midnight, and enema when necessary to clean the intestines.

For those who do not heal for a long time, electrocautery, freezing, laser or surgical removal can be used. Surgical excision should include the base and the incision should be sutured.
