How to better judge urethritis

Urethritis is a common reproductive disease. It is more troublesome to treat because improper care can easily lead to recurrence. Everyone must know some of the symptoms and identification of urethritis, so as to protect their health.

How is urethritis diagnosed?

First, the typical symptoms of acute urethritis are urethral itching, accompanied by mild or severe urgency, pain and difficulty in urination. Men have mucous or mucopurulent urethral secretions and redness of the urethral orifice. Women have excessive vaginal leucorrhea, lower abdominal pain, cervical edema, and mucopurulent secretions.

Second, there is a history of extramarital sexual behavior or spouse abuse, with a latent period of 1 to 3 weeks.

Third, Gram stain of urethral or cervical secretion smear, the number of polymorphonuclear leukocytes is greater than 5 under 1000 times microscope field of view

What should be checked for urethritis?

You can make an acute judgment based on your own situation. If you meet the above conditions, you may have urethritis. If the patient has symptoms of acute urethritis but no discharge is seen during examination or no evidence of acute urethritis is found under the microscope, the patient should be reexamined within 7 days. Do not urinate for 4 to 8 hours before the follow-up examination.

During the reexamination, instead of meeting only one of the criteria, the first urine sample should be taken for urine sediment microscopic examination. If the number of polymorphonuclear leukocytes is greater than 15 under a 500x microscope, the diagnosis can also be confirmed. In clinical practice, the third goal of acute urethritis is relatively large, and sometimes other goals are not very consistent and reliable, but if the above-mentioned third goal is present, the diagnosis can also be made.
