How to treat potassium deficiency periodic paralysis

Potassium deficiency periodic paralysis is actually a serious muscle disease. If it is not effectively treated, it may even develop into paralysis. Therefore, we must pay attention to potassium supplementation and eat more potassium-rich foods, such as pork liver, pork kidney, lamb, corn, sweet potatoes, etc.

1. Potassium is an indispensable element for the human body. Its main function is to maintain the normal function of nerves and muscles. Therefore, once the human body lacks potassium, not only will the energy and physical strength decrease, but the heat resistance will also be reduced. The most prominent manifestation is soreness and weakness in the limbs, and varying degrees of relaxation and paralysis of the neuromuscular system, especially in the lower limbs, which is called potassium deficiency paralysis. In severe cases, it can also lead to acid-base imbalance, metabolic disorders, arrhythmias in the human body, and be accompanied by cardiovascular system dysfunction, such as chest tightness, palpitations, and even respiratory muscle paralysis and difficulty breathing.

2. After sweating profusely, do not drink too much boiled water or sugar water immediately. You can drink some fruit juice or sugar and salt water to prevent excessive decrease in blood potassium. Some people drink excessive amounts of salt water in order to reduce sweating, which can easily increase the burden on the heart and cause an imbalance in potassium and sodium in the body. Appropriate supplementation of potassium is beneficial to improving the balance of potassium and sodium in the body, which can prevent both high and low blood pressure.

3. Potassium can be obtained from daily diet. Here are some foods that are high in potassium:

.Meat - lean pork, pork liver, pork kidney, pork stomach, meat floss, bacon, lamb, chicken, fish, scallops, dried shrimp, etc.

Grains - Buckwheat, corn, sweet potatoes, soybeans, etc. are high in potassium. There are also soybeans, green beans, black beans, red beans, mung beans, peas, broad beans, etc.

4. Fruits: Bananas have the highest potassium content.

Vegetables: spinach, amaranth, coriander, rapeseed, cabbage, celery, onion, green garlic, lettuce, potato, yam, fresh peas, edamame, etc. are high in potassium. There are also peanuts, lotus seeds, lilies, arrowhead mushrooms, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, mustard tubers, cabbage, etc.

Seaweed - every 100 grams of seaweed contains 1640 mg of potassium, which is 175 times that of sodium; the potassium content in kelp is 22 times that of sodium. Therefore, seaweed soup, steamed fish with seaweed, seaweed meatballs, cold kelp shreds, kelp stewed meat, etc. are all excellent potassium-replenishing dishes in summer.
