How to effectively treat kneecap fracture

How to effectively treat kneecap fracture

It is difficult to reposition a kneecap fracture through manipulation like other parts of the body, because this part is relatively special and requires surgical treatment. After the operation, you should also pay attention to proper care and pay attention to the health of the knee joint to avoid traumatic arthritis.

1. Patellar fractures are generally difficult to reduce through manipulation and must be treated surgically. If it is just a fracture without a quadriceps tendon tear, it is not complicated. Look at your X-ray. If the fracture is not too broken, it can usually be fixed with a Kirschner wire (steel needle) + tension band (steel wire). The operation is not difficult. If the financial conditions are good, you can also use a patellar claw, and then use Kirschner wires or tension bands to assist in fixation for better results.

2. Recovery will be almost complete in 3 months. The Kirschner wire can be removed half a year after the operation without surgery. The patellar claw needs to be removed surgically 1-2 years after the operation, or it can be left in place. The operation is not difficult, but it is best to go to a large hospital for surgery, because if the patella is not aligned during the operation, it will cause wear and tear on the knee joint and lead to traumatic arthritis.

3. Half a month after the operation, you will find that the knee joint cannot move due to stiff ligaments due to long-term inactivity. It will take half a year to a year to perform restorative knee flexion training, which is very painful.
