What is the suitable air humidity for human body

A healthy humidity environment should be between 45% and 65%. If the humidity is lower or higher than this index, the human body will feel uncomfortable and may experience sore throat or decreased immunity. We cannot control the humidity outdoors, but we can adjust the optimal temperature and humidity ratio indoors. Such an environment is more conducive to our health. So not only is temperature an important indicator, but so is humidity.

When the air humidity is too high, people are easily harmed by "dampness"; when the humidity is too low, what needs to be guarded against is "dryness" (also known as "dryness evil"). Scientific research shows that people feel most comfortable and are less likely to develop respiratory diseases in an environment with a relative humidity of 45-65%RH and a humidity index of 50-60.

Therefore, when dry and cold air invades in autumn and winter, it can easily induce pharyngitis, tracheitis, pneumonia and other diseases. In addition, allergic diseases such as allergic dermatitis, bronchial asthma, and skin itching are also related to dry air. When the air humidity is greater than 65%RH, the amount of pineal hormone in the human body is also large, which makes the concentration of thyroid hormone and adrenaline in the body relatively lower, and people will feel listless and sluggish. Working and living in a humid environment for a long time can easily lead to rheumatic diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatism diseases, which will eventually lead to a decrease in the body's immunity.

Modern medicine has also confirmed that air that is too dry or humid is conducive to the reproduction and spread of some microorganisms. Scientists have determined that microorganisms multiply fastest when the air humidity is above 65% or below 38%; when the relative humidity is between 45% and 55%, the mortality rate of pathogens is higher.

Because air humidity affects people's health, the air humidity in the room should be adjusted with the change of seasons to keep the indoor humidity within an appropriate range. Generally speaking, the humidity is high in spring and summer, and low in autumn and winter, so you should open windows less often on rainy days in summer; when there is heating in winter, you should use a humidifier or humidify it yourself, or mop the floor with a wet mop to increase the indoor humidity.

In fact, humidity is a very important indicator characteristic. For Chinese people, they often only pay attention to the temperature, but sometimes ignore the impact of humidity on people. In fact, both indicators are very important, and the humidity indicator should be combined with the temperature to make some judgments. For example, when the temperature is 18 degrees Celsius and the humidity is greater than 35, the human body feels more comfortable overall.
