How to do cupping at home

Cupping therapy has been used by us for a long time. Long ago in ancient times, we used cupping to treat diseases. Cupping can not only be used to treat diseases, but also can be used for health care in our family at ordinary times. So how should cupping be performed at home? Let us give you a detailed introduction below.

(1) When selecting materials for cupping, you need to be careful. Chinese medicine practitioners often use bamboo tubes. If you can’t find one, glass bottles or ceramic cups will do. However, the mouth must be thick and smooth to prevent the mouth of the cup from being too thin and injuring the skin. The bottom should be wide and semicircular.

(2) To prepare for cupping, the cup should be cleaned and dried first, then the patient should lie down or sit comfortably, exposing the area to be cupped, and then light the fire and insert the cup.

(3) When igniting the fire, generally hold the cup with one hand and the lit probe with the other hand. The operation should be quick. Shake the burning probe in the cup for a few times and then remove it. Place the cup quickly on the area to be treated. While the fire is still burning, hold the cup tightly against the affected area. Do not wait for the fire to go out. Otherwise, it will be too loose and difficult to absorb moisture. You should feel that the cup is tightly attached to your body. Be careful not to heat the edge of the jar to avoid burns.

(4) Cupping time: Generally, the cup can be removed after 15-20 minutes. Do not pull the cup forcefully, or twist it. The key is to tilt the cup to one side with one hand and press the skin with the other hand to allow air to enter the cup through the gap. The cup will then naturally separate from the skin.

(5) Cupping technique: Cupping can be performed using the moving cupping method. Cupping means that after the cup is covered, you hold the cup with one or two hands, lift it up slightly, and push and pull the cup body to move on the patient's skin. It can move in one direction or back and forth. This way several areas can be treated. When cupping, you should pay attention to applying some lubricant on the area to be cupped or the mouth of the cup, such as glycerin, paraffin oil, scraping oil, etc., to prevent the skin from being pulled during cupping.

When using cupping method at home, the first thing to pay attention to is to master the method. Only after you have mastered the method of cupping can you avoid burns or scalds during cupping. In addition, when using cupping at home, do not use it for too long, as this will not only fail to achieve the health-preserving effect, but will also have an impact on your health.
