Teachers are a profession that has many students and is loved by everyone. However, they need to speak for a long time at the podium and inhale large amounts of chalk dust at close range, so they often suffer from hoarseness of the throat. In class, when students hear the teacher's hoarse voice and see the teacher frowning because of a sore throat, they will be very anxious. Of course, everyone can prepare a glass of water and a glass of Golden Throat for the teacher on the table, so what else should we pay attention to? Hoarseness and aphonia are common problems faced by people who need to speak for a long time or do not use their throat properly. If hoarseness persists for more than two weeks, it is best to see an ENT doctor for examination and treatment. Generally speaking, silent rest is the best way to treat hoarseness. As for vocal calluses, surgery is not necessarily required. Speech therapy can be done first. Only when the nodules are too large or speech therapy is ineffective, laryngeal endoscopic microsurgery is necessary. Here are some tips for protecting your voice in daily life: 1) Limit talking time outside of work and reduce unnecessary long chats or phone calls. 2) Speak at an appropriate volume and make good use of the microphone to cope with insufficient volume. 3) Speak slowly, pause frequently to breathe, and don’t make a sentence too long. 4) The speaking tone should not be too low or too high, and the emphasis should not be placed on the prefix of each sentence. 5) Whispering is an incorrect way of speaking. 6) When speaking for a long time, you should drink more warm water to keep your throat moist. 7) Try to speak easily with your abdomen (i.e. Dantian), and do not speak with your chest or by tensing your neck muscles. 8) Do not smoke, drink, or eat spicy or fried foods, such as strong tea, coffee, chili pepper, chocolate, cold drinks, etc. 9) Avoid clearing your throat, coughing, etc. 10) Get enough sleep and don’t eat too much before bedtime. So how do you protect your throat? The experts made the following recommendations: 1. Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and coffee. Maintaining a balance of water in the body can adequately moisturize the vocal cords. 2. Don’t smoke. Even passive smoking should be avoided because smoking can significantly increase the risk of laryngeal cancer. 3. Don’t overuse your voice. Don't scream or speak loudly in noisy areas. If your throat feels dry or your voice becomes hoarse, stop talking. The speaking voice should be kept normal, not too high or too low. Speaking in a low voice is also not good for protecting the voice. 4. Don’t clear your throat too much. Because when you do this, the airflow will violently vibrate the vocal cords, causing damage to them. If you feel any discomfort in your throat, take small sips of water or swallow. But if you have to clear your throat constantly, see your doctor; perhaps a condition like reflux disease or allergies is to blame. In short, in addition to protecting your voice, you must respect and love your teachers, pass on relevant suggestions to them, and thus protect their voices, so that they can happily and healthily impart knowledge to everyone. You must also listen carefully in class and not let down your teachers' cultivation and expectations of you. During class, preparing a glass of water for the teacher to moisten the throat can also relieve the symptoms of sore throat. |
