How to make dried persimmon at home

Persimmon cake is a kind of dried fruit that many friends like to eat. Because fresh persimmons can only be stored for a short time, they are stored by drying. In fact, the dried persimmons taste sweeter and more friends like them. You can also make persimmon cakes by yourself in your daily life, and the method of making it is relatively simple. Just follow the steps.

1. The first step is to choose persimmons

Before making persimmon cakes, choosing fresh persimmons is an important process. We must choose persimmons without cracks, with regular fruits, high sugar content and sufficient water content. We must choose persimmons with cores. If there are persimmons without cores, they can be directly eliminated because we must have cores when making persimmon cakes. Also, when choosing persimmons, don't choose those that are already very ripe. It is best to choose half-ripe varieties.

2. Step 2: Peel the persimmons

We put the selected persimmons in a large basin, wash them, and then peel them with a knife. If there is no machine at home, you can ask someone to help peel them manually, which will take much longer. Our hands must be clean when peeling. The peeled skin can be dried and used when applying cream later.

3. The third step is to dry the persimmons

When drying persimmons, you can use rough hemp rope, place small sections on the remaining top of the persimmon and tie knots. Be careful not to hang them on the core, as the core does not have much bearing capacity. The tip of the core needs to have a larger bearing capacity. About five or six persimmons can be hung on a hemp rope, and there should be a certain distance between them. After everything is done, hang it with a rope in a sunny, ventilated, clean place to dry in the sun. At night and on rainy days, you need to cover it with something to prevent dew and moisture. Turn the persimmons over every two days. You can pinch them when turning them over. Dry them in the sun for about ten days. When they become dry, you can put them in a basin.

4. Step 4: Frost the persimmon cake

Put the tops of two persimmon cakes together with the stems facing outwards. Put a layer of previously dried persimmon peels and then a layer of persimmon cakes in a clean container. Repeat this process until all the persimmons are put in. Then seal the container and place it in a cool place to protect it from frost. It is best to cover it with a layer of straw. Whether frosting is effective or not mainly depends on the degree of temperature control, so you must control the temperature well when frosting, the lower the better.

5. If the outdoor temperature is low, we can dry the persimmons manually!

The main method of artificially drying persimmons is baking. This is more suitable for workshops that process persimmon cakes for sale, but not suitable for home use. If you want to use it at home, it is possible, but it is more troublesome. You need to make a drying room, keep the temperature at around 40 degrees, and put it in the oven to dry. It needs to be ventilated every four hours, and the persimmons can be dried into persimmon cakes in about a week. Then you can store the dried persimmon cakes in a container to soften and frost them. It should be noted that when roasting persimmons, the temperature must not exceed 50 degrees, and appropriate ventilation is required, otherwise mold will grow. If mold grows, all your previous efforts will be wasted.
