Sepsis, bacteremia, and sepsis are completely different. Do not confuse them. Difference between sepsis and septicemia

If the bacteria that invade the bloodstream are cleared by the body's defenses without obvious symptoms of toxemia, it is called bacteremia. Sepsis accompanied by multiple abscesses and a long course is called sepsis.

If sepsis is not quickly controlled, it can spread from the primary site of infection to other parts of the body, causing metastatic abscesses. Abscesses can occur on the surface of the brain, causing meningitis; in the membrane around the heart, causing pericarditis; in the lining of the heart, causing endocarditis; if in the bone marrow, causing osteomyelitis; or in a large joint, causing joint pain or arthritis.

Eventually, pus accumulates and forms an abscess anywhere in the body. In severe cases, septic shock and migratory lesions may occur, so sepsis is a new manifestation. If multiple abscesses occur on the basis of sepsis, the course of the disease is longer and the condition is more severe, sepsis will occur.
