1. Self-test of ovulation period method: menstrual cycle calculation method

This method is suitable for people with regular menstrual cycles. Ovulation occurs 12 to 16 days before the next menstrual period. The egg can survive for 1 day and the sperm can survive for 3 to 5 days. After counting your menstrual cycles for the past 12 months, you can calculate your fertile period: the shortest cycle day - 18 = the first day of the fertile period in the cycle, and the longest cycle day - 11 = the last day of the fertile period in the cycle.

For example: the longest menstrual cycle of a woman of childbearing age in the first 12 months is 30 days and the shortest is 28 days. Then the first day of her ovulation period = 28 days - 18 days = 10 days, and the last day of ovulation period = 30 days - 11 days = 19 days. In other words, the ovulation period of this woman starts on the 10th day of this menstruation and ends on the 19th day of this menstruation.

This method predicts ovulation by examining the cyclical changes in cervical mucus during the menstrual cycle. It mainly relies on the feeling of the vulva and is coordinated with vision. When the cervical mucus is clear, elastic and lubricated, it indicates that ovulation is approaching.

The principle of using ovulation test strips to detect ovulation is that the luteinizing hormone (LH) in the urine will reach a peak level 24-48 hours before a woman ovulates. The ovulation test strips predict whether ovulation will occur by detecting the peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH) in the urine. If a woman is about to ovulate, the result will be positive when she uses an ovulation test strip to test herself.

However, the urine used for ovulation test strips cannot be morning urine. You should try to test the urine sample at the same time every day. You should reduce water intake 2 hours before collecting urine to avoid diluted urine samples interfering with the detection of LH peak. Women with regular menstrual cycles should measure their menstrual cycle for six consecutive days, starting from 14 days before the menstrual period (which is the expected ovulation day), the first three days and the last three days. Women with irregular or abnormal menstruation should generally start testing on the third day after the menstrual period ends. If the two bars on the test paper are the same depth or the second bar is darker than the first, it means that ovulation will occur within 24 to 48 hours.
