Is the nodule in the right lower lung serious?

Long-term smoking by men and air pollution will add considerable work pressure to our lungs, which can easily lead to the occurrence of some lung diseases. This is why more and more people are finding that they have nodules in the right lower lung when checking their lungs. In fact, for this problem, you can only truly solve the problem if you know whether the nodules in the right lower lung are serious.

Clinical statistics show that the vast majority of solitary small nodules on the lungs that are less than 1 cm in size are benign lesions, the most common of which are infectious lung diseases, including pneumonia, tuberculosis, and bronchiectasis. Of course, lung cancer can also manifest as solitary nodules.

Because most of them are benign lesions, there is no need to be overly nervous, but you should actively seek a specialist such as thoracic surgery to make a clear diagnosis. The doctor will use other auxiliary examination methods according to the patient's specific situation, such as chest CT, fiber bronchoscope, CT-guided puncture, sputum cell examination, etc. to further clarify the diagnosis.

If you find small shadows or nodules in your lungs under the following circumstances, you should actively consult a professional thoracic surgeon and receive formal further examinations and timely treatment: (1) Long-term smokers with a smoking age of more than 20 years, who smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day, or people who are exposed to passive smoking; (2) People over 40 years old; accompanied by symptoms such as chest pain, cough, unexplained blood in sputum, emaciation, weight loss, etc.; (3) People with a family history of tumors, especially a genetic history of lung cancer.

The presence of lung cancer should be considered after the symptoms of lung cancer appear. At this time, it is best to perform the following examinations to confirm whether it is lung cancer: 1. X-ray examination. 2. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy. 3. CT or MRI examination. 4. Examination of sputum exfoliated cells. 5. Biopsy. Regular lung cancer screening can be beneficial for cancer prevention and treatment.

This means that if there is only a nodule shadow in the right lower lung, the situation is still relatively optimistic. It is recommended that you only need to drink more water, reduce outdoor activities during foggy weather, and smoke less, and the situation will gradually improve. In fact, the lung organ will not have various problems only if we do a good job of protecting it.
