Intravenous drip operation steps

Intravenous drip operation steps

Modern medical technology is developing very rapidly, and various advanced treatment methods have emerged. Among them, intravenous drip injection is a very common therapy, which has a very high inhibitory and clearing effect on physical diseases. However, intravenous drip requires a certain medical foundation, that is, it needs to be completed by professional medical staff to ensure safety. Let’s take a look at the steps for performing intravenous drip.

1. Wash your hands, wear a mask, prepare all your supplies and place them properly.

Take medicine according to the doctor's orders, check the label on the medicine bottle (name of medicine, concentration, dosage, usage, expiration date), check the quality of the liquid (whether the medicine has precipitation, turbidity, discoloration, flocs; whether the bottle has cracks, whether the bottle mouth is loose), and stick the infusion card.

2. Liquid preparation: Open the center part of the aluminum cap, disinfect the bottle mouth as usual, and check the drug name, concentration, dosage, usage, patient name, and bed number again according to the doctor's instructions; aspirate the liquid medicine and add the required medicine, press the bottle label on the bottle mouth, check again and sign, put it on the treatment cart after confirmation, and put the empty ampoule in the box.

3. Push the cart to the bedside, hold the execution book, explain the bed number and name, ask about the needs, and instruct the patient to defecate.

Hold the infusion stand to the bedside and adjust the height to 60-2000px.

Lay the treatment towel, tie the tourniquet, select the blood vessels, and loosen the tourniquet.

4. Check the drug name, dosage, concentration, time, and usage again to check the quality. Open the infusion set, insert the needle into the liquid bottle mouth, close the adjusting clip, hang on the infusion stand, and vent once successfully. The liquid level should be at 1/3-1/2 of the Murphy's dropper, there should be no bubbles in the leather tube below the liquid level, no liquid should flow out of the joint, and the pipe should be hung at the dropper.

5. Disinfect the skin twice with a routine 0.5% iodine cotton swab with a diameter of 8 cm, prepare adhesive tape, and tie a tourniquet 10-15 cm above the puncture point.

Remove the infusion tube, check again for bubbles in the tube, and exhaust all the gas in the needle.

6. Ask the patient to make a fist and hold the needle handle at a 15-30° angle to the skin for puncture. After seeing blood return, push the needle in a little, loosen the tourniquet, loosen the fist, loosen the adjusting clamp, fix with tape, and retract the treatment towel and tourniquet.

Adjust the number of drops: 60-80 drops/minute for adults and 20-30 drops/minute for children. Observe the local condition of the puncture and ask the patient about his feelings.
