Risks of ovarian tumor surgery

Risks of ovarian tumor surgery

During ovarian cancer surgery, it is not 100% possible to remove all cancer cells in the ovaries and the body, especially for women with mid-stage ovarian cancer, so chemotherapy drugs are usually needed to continue after surgery. However, since the risks are not particularly high, the vast majority of ovarian cancer patients will not have serious accidents during surgery and can generally get off the operating table normally. The risks of ovarian cancer are not particularly high, but during surgery, there will definitely be various anesthesia risks, or damage to adjacent organs, and even abnormal bleeding. For patients with ovarian cancer, if it is in the early or mid-stage, surgical treatment can usually be considered.

Why do ovarian tumors develop?

Some germ cell tumors and sex cord-stromal cell tumors are related to some factors in the embryonic development process. Some patients develop ovarian tumors because of a certain relationship with genes, such as epithelial ovarian cancer and BRCA genes. The ovary is an important reproductive organ. Ovulation alternates every month, forming rupture holes on the surface of the ovary, increasing the chance of infection and making ovarian tumors more likely to occur. Ovarian tumors come from a variety of sources, including epithelial tumors, sex cord-stromal cell tumors, germ cell tumors, and metastatic ovarian tumors. Ovarian tumors are divided into benign tumors and malignant tumors, which are related to the ovaries themselves.

Are borderline ovarian tumors serious?

Borderline ovarian tumors refer to epithelial cells with active proliferation, atypical nuclei, and increased nuclear division, which are manifested as increased epithelial cell levels but no stromal infiltration. They are low-potential malignant tumors and special tumors between benign and malignant tumors, which can develop into ovarian cancer. Since borderline ovarian tumors may transform into ovarian cancer, surgical treatment is required after examination. Surgical treatment is the most important and basic treatment method for borderline ovarian tumors. It is more common in women of childbearing age, and the age of onset is mostly between 35 and 53 years old. Surgery is divided into conservative surgery and radical surgery.
