How to treat posterior nasal bleeding from nasopharyngeal carcinoma and what are the nursing methods?

After suffering from nasopharyngeal cancer, the nose may experience various symptoms, which sometimes catch the patient off guard. So, how to treat posterior nose bleeding due to nasopharyngeal cancer? What are the nursing methods?

Generally, when nasopharyngeal cancer patients have nose bleeding, 1% ephedrine can be used as nose drops to contract blood vessels and stop bleeding, and vitamin C and K can be taken orally. When the amount of bleeding is heavy, 1% ephedrine can be used as nose drops, and hemostatic drugs such as Anluoxue can be injected intramuscularly; when the nasopharynx continues to bleed heavily, cotton balls and gauze can be used to pack the bleeding, the head can be laid on the side, the airway can be kept open, and hemostatic drugs can be used intravenously.

The following nursing measures should be taken during the illness of nasopharyngeal carcinoma:

1. Patients with nasopharyngeal cancer often have their oral glands destroyed by radiotherapy, which reduces saliva and causes dry mouth and tongue. Also, because nasopharyngeal cancer is located in the upper part behind the posterior nasal aperture, the tumor often blocks the nostrils and causes mouth breathing, which causes rapid loss of oral moisture and dry mouth and chapped lips. It is important to provide patients with enough drinking water, or give them black plums, American ginseng, and vitamin C tablets to quench thirst and promote salivation.

2. Dry lips can be moistened with gauze moistened with oil or saline; acupuncture of Chengjiang, Lianquan, Hegu, Yuji and other acupoints can relieve the symptoms of dry mouth.

3. If there is infection, purulent secretions will flow out of the ears and nostrils, even with a foul smell, the nasolacrimal duct will be blocked, and the eyes will be easily infected, so special attention should be paid to keeping the nose, ears, and eyes clean. The nasal cavity can be rinsed with 0.5% soda solution, and then 0.25% chloramphenicol can be dripped to prevent infection; the ear canal can be wiped clean with a small cotton swab, and then chloramphenicol solution can be dripped; or 0.5% to 1% hydrogen peroxide can be used to rinse and then drip medicine.

4. Keep the room clean, quit smoking and drinking, avoid eating too cold, too hot, too hard or too spicy food, and pay attention to oral hygiene.

5. The patient's fear and tension should be reduced so that the patient can cooperate closely with the treatment.
