At what age does nasopharyngeal cancer usually occur and what are the prevention methods?

In what years does nasopharyngeal cancer occur? What are the preventive measures?

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors in China, and is more common in southern provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Fujian, and Jiangxi. The incidence rate in men is 2 to 3 times that in women. The age distribution of reported cases in China ranges from 3 to 90 years old, but 30 to 50 years old is the high-incidence age range. The age of onset is mostly middle-aged and adolescent patients. The etiology and racial susceptibility are more common in yellow people than in white people, genetic factors, and Epstein-Barr virus infection. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a highly invasive tumor that invades deep structures in the early stage. The nasopharynx causes different symptoms due to different ways of spread: upward type A extension, downward type D metastasis, and upward and downward type AD type.

Ways to prevent nasopharyngeal cancer include:

1. Strengthen exercise, improve physical fitness, and reduce the chance of infection with EB virus. The specific approach is: insist on washing your face with cold water to prevent colds. Actively treat acute rhinitis, nasal adjacent organ diseases and systemic diseases to prevent the induction of this disease. Avoid staying in an environment with toxic or irritating gases and dust for a long time. Patients cannot blow their noses hard to prevent turbid noses from entering the ears. Vasoconstrictors, such as ephedrine, nose and eye cleaning, etc., must not be used for a long time to avoid drug-dependent rhinitis.

2. In daily life, be careful to avoid inhaling harmful fumes from kerosene lamps, pesticides, etc., and actively quit smoking and drinking. At the same time, pay attention to climate change, prevent colds, maintain nasopharyngeal hygiene, and avoid viral infections.

3. Pay attention to your diet structure, do not be picky eaters, eat more vegetables, fruits and other foods that contain a lot of vitamins. Eat less or no salted fish, pickled meat, etc.

4. In terms of diet, eat less or no foods containing nitrosamines, such as salted fish, pickles, bacon, and some canned foods containing nitrosamines. According to relevant data, the risk of children under 10 years old eating salted fish increases significantly, and children should not eat it.
