How to treat lung cancer by stage

How is lung cancer treated by stage?

Lung cancer is usually staged according to tumor size, lymph nodes and distant metastasis, and is mainly divided into four stages, including stage I, stage II, stage III and stage IV.

1. Phase I:

If it is stage I lung cancer, the tumor is usually small, the lung diameter does not exceed 3 cm, and there is no lymph node metastasis.

2. Stage II:

If it is stage II lung cancer, the tumor is usually large with no lymph node metastasis, or the tumor is small with intrapulmonary lymph node metastasis.

3. Stage III:

If it is stage III lung cancer, the tumor cells in the body have metastasized to the mediastinum or non-lymphatic areas.

Stage 4:

If it is stage IV lung cancer, there will usually be pleural spread, pleural effusion, or the tumor has metastasized to other parts of the body such as the brain, liver, bones, etc.

Stage I is divided into Stage IA and Stage IB, Stage II is divided into Stage IIA and Stage IIB, and Stage III is divided into Stage IIIA and Stage IIIB. Therefore, after patients are diagnosed with lung cancer, they need to go to the hospital for relevant examinations in time and choose appropriate treatment methods under the guidance of a doctor based on the stage of lung cancer.
