Early symptoms of thyroid cancer

Early symptoms of thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is a common malignant tumor of the endocrine system, originating from the thyroid follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells. Since its early symptoms are not obvious, it may be discovered accidentally during a physical examination or other reasons. Common symptoms include neck mass, hoarseness, dyspnea, dysphagia, cervical lymphadenopathy, etc.

1. Neck mass: There may be a painless neck mass with hard texture and poor mobility. Surgical resection is the preferred treatment method. Depending on the size and location of the cancer, partial or complete thyroidectomy can be performed.

2. Hoarseness: Since thyroid cancer invades the recurrent laryngeal nerve, patients may experience hoarseness or loss of voice. For thyroid cancer that invades the recurrent laryngeal nerve, surgical resection is the main treatment. Vocal cord rehabilitation training can be used after surgery.

3. Difficulty breathing: When thyroid cancer invades the trachea, breathing difficulties may occur. For thyroid cancer that invades the trachea, surgical resection is the first choice. If the condition is serious, a tracheotomy may be required.

4. Dysphagia: When thyroid cancer invades the esophagus, patients may experience dysphagia. Surgical resection is the key to treatment. Esophageal dilation or esophageal reconstruction may be required after surgery.

5. Swollen lymph nodes in the neck: When thyroid cancer metastasizes to lymph nodes, patients may experience swollen lymph nodes in the neck. Surgical removal of the primary lesion and lymph nodes is the first choice. Radionuclide therapy or chemotherapy can be used after surgery.

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor that requires early diagnosis and treatment, and should be treated as soon as possible under the guidance of a doctor. At the same time, maintaining a good living habit and mentality is also an important factor in defeating thyroid cancer.
