Is bilirubin high in thyroid cancer?

Is bilirubin high in thyroid cancer?

Patients with thyroid cancer generally do not have high bilirubin levels. If high bilirubin levels occur, it may be due to abnormal liver function, hemolytic jaundice, hepatocellular jaundice, cholestasis, etc.

1. Abnormal liver function: Diseases such as viral hepatitis and drug-induced liver injury can cause liver cell damage, leading to abnormal liver function and high bilirubin. At this time, it is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time and use drugs such as Compound Glycyrrhizin Tablets and Silybin Capsules for treatment under the guidance of a doctor;

2. Hemolytic jaundice: It is jaundice caused by excessive destruction of red blood cells or excessive production of bilirubin, which can manifest as yellow skin and sclera. Patients can take prednisone acetate tablets, folic acid tablets and other drugs for treatment under the guidance of doctors;

3. Hepatocellular jaundice: It is more common in viral hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease and other diseases. Due to the inflammation of the liver, the liver cells are damaged, and the bilirubin cannot be metabolized normally, resulting in high bilirubin. Patients can take drugs such as Entecavir Dispersible Tablets and Tenofovir Alafenamide Fumarate Tablets for treatment under the guidance of a doctor;

4. Cholestasis: It is common in diseases such as bile duct stones and bile duct stenosis. Due to the obstruction of bile excretion, a large amount of bilirubin accumulates in the body, resulting in high bilirubin. Patients can take ursodeoxycholic acid capsules, chenodeoxycholic acid capsules and other drugs for treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

If the patient has a malignant tumor and it has metastasized, it may affect the liver, leading to decreased liver function and causing the above symptoms. It is recommended that patients go to the general surgery department of the hospital in time and follow the doctor's advice to undergo routine blood tests, B-ultrasound examinations, etc. to confirm the diagnosis.
