What juice to drink for a cold

People with common colds generally cannot drink cold drinks, and most fruit juices are cold, so it is not recommended to drink them. If a person with a cold drinks cold drinks, it may cause bronchial constriction, which will aggravate the cough. It is better for friends who have a cold to eat more and drink warm water, which will also make them feel more comfortable.

Wind-heat cold is caused by wind-heat evil invading the surface and disharmony of lung qi. Symptoms include high fever, slight aversion to wind, headache, sweating, red and swollen sore throat, cough, sticky or yellow phlegm, nasal congestion and yellow nasal discharge, thirst and desire to drink, red tip and edges of the tongue, and a thin white and slightly yellow tongue coating. Wind-heat colds are more common in summer and autumn and are caused by exogenous wind-heat. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that wind-heat cold is a superficial symptom caused by the wind-heat evil.

Patients with wind-heat cold should try to drink less fruit juice. Most fruit juice is cold and may cause bronchial constriction and aggravate cough. Except for fever, it is not suitable for consumption during a cold. Especially fruits with high water content, such as watermelon, pear and other colder fruit juices, if you have symptoms such as cough, runny nose, diarrhea, cold hands and feet, eating them will easily make the condition worse. Patients can eat more of the following foods:

(1) Chrysanthemum sugar tea: 30 grams of chrysanthemum sugar and appropriate amount of white sugar. Soak the chrysanthemums in boiling water in a teapot and add appropriate amount of sugar. It can promote lung qi, relieve cough and reverse cough, and clear away the accumulated fire in the three burners. It is suitable for patients with the initial stage of wind-heat cold, headache and fever.

(2) Ginger and brown sugar tea: 10 grams of ginger and appropriate amount of brown sugar. Slice the ginger, soak it in boiling water, add a small amount of brown sugar, and drink it instead of tea. It can dispel cold and relieve exterior symptoms, warm the lungs and relieve cough, increase appetite, and treat colds.

(3) Mung bean porridge: 50 grams of mung beans, 100 grams of glutinous rice, and appropriate amount of rock sugar. Wash mung beans and rice and cook them into porridge. When hot, add rock sugar, stir well and it is ready to eat. It can clear away heat, relieve exterior symptoms, dispel summer heat and eliminate dampness, and is a good medicine for treating summer-heat and dampness colds.

If you have a cold, be careful not to eat too cold or spicy food. If you have a cold for a long time, you must go to the hospital to consult a doctor for medication so that you can recover as soon as possible.
