Cervical cancer is a malignant tumor and the main killer of female friends' health. It brings great pain to female friends and seriously affects women's health. Therefore, we should pay more attention to this aspect. Let's take a look at how to identify and diagnose cervical cancer.

Cervical Cancer Symptoms

Many women are afraid of hearing about cervical cancer. Because people's lives are becoming more and more open in today's society, the possibility of women suffering from cervical cancer is gradually increasing. Experts say that once the symptoms of cervical cancer appear in daily life, they must be treated immediately. Otherwise, it will be too late when cancer develops. So what are the symptoms of cervical cancer?

Clinical follow-up shows that it takes about 10 years for general cervical precancerous lesions to develop into cervical cancer. From this perspective, cervical cancer is not terrible, it is a preventable and curable disease.

The main symptoms are

Vaginal bleeding

Young patients often present with contact bleeding, which occurs after sexual intercourse, gynecological examinations, and bowel movements. The amount of bleeding generally depends on the size of the lesion and the invasion of the intrastitial blood vessels.

Early bleeding is less, and late lesions are larger, showing heavy bleeding. Once large blood vessels are eroded, fatal bleeding may occur. Young patients may also experience prolonged menstruation, shortened cycles, increased menstrual flow, etc. Elderly patients often complain of irregular vaginal bleeding after menopause.

Vaginal discharge

Patients often complain of increased vaginal discharge, which is white or bloody, thin like water or rice soup, and has a fishy smell. In the late stage, due to the rupture of cancer tissue, tissue necrosis, secondary infection, etc., a large amount of purulent or rice soup-smelling leucorrhea is discharged. In the early stage of cervical cancer, it is confined to the cervix, and patients often have no symptoms until it spreads to other surrounding tissues.

The early symptoms of cervical cancer are usually a small amount of bleeding after sexual intercourse, irregular menstruation or vaginal bleeding after menopause. At this time, a gynecological examination will find that the surface of the cervix is smooth or eroded, hard, and easy to bleed.

As the disease progresses and the tumor gradually increases, the patient will have more leucorrhea. If the cancerous tissue is necrotic and infected, more foul-smelling leucorrhea mixed with blood will be discharged; the symptoms of late-stage cervical cancer increase bleeding, and even fatal bleeding due to erosion of large blood vessels. Local tumors can be vegetables, nodules or ulcers, which are empty when the tumor is necrotic and falls off.

Although there are usually no symptoms, gynecological examinations or cervical smears should be performed once a year, which is very helpful for early detection of cervical cancer. For suspected patients, colposcopy, biopsy and other methods can also be used to detect cervical cancer in the early stage.

The key to prevention and treatment is to have regular gynecological examinations, timely detect and treat cervical precancerous lesions, and stop the development of cervical cancer. If prevention and treatment measures can be implemented, the cure rate of cervical cancer is very high.

There are usually no symptoms in the early stages, and there is no obvious difference from chronic cervicitis. Sometimes the cervix is even smooth, especially in elderly women.
