How long can you live with lung cancer? You need to pay attention to these three factors

The specific survival period of lung cancer patients is related to many factors, such as pathological type, disease stage, and whether active treatment is given, and is therefore uncertain.

1. Pathological types
Lung cancer includes small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. Small cell lung cancer is highly malignant and invasive, and lymphatic or blood metastasis can occur in the early stage. The survival period is limited. If not treated in time, the natural survival period is 1 to 2 years. Non-small cell lung cancer includes adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and carcinosarcoma. It develops slowly. With the adoption of a precise treatment plan, the 5-year survival rate can reach 85%.
2. Disease staging
Lung cancer is divided into stages: I, II, III, and IV. Stage I is early stage lung cancer with a cure rate of more than 90%, and some patients can maintain normal kidney lifespan; stage II and III lung cancer are early, middle, and late stage lung cancer, with a high recurrence and metastasis rate after radical surgery. The survival period is short, with a 5-year survival rate of 60-65%; stage IV lung cancer is late stage lung cancer with a poor prognosis and a 5-year survival rate of less than 5%.
3. Whether to actively receive treatment
After lung cancer is diagnosed, active treatment and correct treatment plan are adopted to control cancer and avoid the spread of cancer cells, which can prolong survival; passive treatment and failure to receive timely treatment will cause cancer cells to spread rapidly and survival period will be only 6 to 12 months.
