Is testicular cancer contagious?

Is testicular cancer contagious? Testicular cancer is a common malignant tumor disease in life, which poses a great threat to the health of male friends. However, many friends do not know much about testicular cancer. Some people ask if testicular cancer is contagious? In response to this question, let's learn about it below!

Is testicular cancer contagious?

Generally speaking, cancer refers to malignant tumors caused by abnormal cell proliferation, and testicular cancer is no exception. Regardless of whether the cause is genetic, environmental, or physiological factors, these lesions usually do not involve viruses or RNA. Since there are no indirect receptors, there is no possibility of infection.

In simple terms, infection is the transmission of a disease from one person to another through some means. Infection requires three conditions: a source of infection, a transmission route, and a susceptible population. Clinical data show that cancer patients themselves are not the source of infection.

Is testicular cancer contagious? Experts have conducted experiments in which cancerous tissue removed from a cancer patient and directly implanted in another person did not survive and grow. Experiments using experimental animals have also proven this point. When experimental animals with cancer and experimental animals without cancer were placed together, eating, sleeping, and growing together, no signs of cancer metastasis were found. This shows that testicular cancer is not contagious.

As one of the most common cancers in young men, the cause of testicular cancer is not well known. According to statistics, the incidence rate of testicular cancer in men is 7 per 100,000, and it is increasing year by year. The cause is usually the metastasis of malignant tumors.

Although many data suggest that the occurrence of testicular tumors may be related to testicular trauma, endocrine disorders, genetics and infection, there is a lack of sufficient evidence. So far, the most convincing is the relationship between incomplete testicular descent (cryptorchidism) and testicular tumors. A large amount of data confirms that the malignant rate of cryptorchidism, especially abdominal cryptorchidism, is much higher than that of normal descended testicles. It is 3 to 14 times the incidence of normal people.

It is currently believed that factors such as testicular germ cell abnormalities, elevated temperature, blood supply disorders, endocrine disorders, and gonadal dysgenesis may be related to the malignant transformation of cryptorchidism. The relationship between cryptorchidism and testicular tumors has attracted the attention of scholars from various countries, who emphasize that orchiopexy before the age of 6 is an effective measure to prevent the malignant transformation of cryptorchidism, and has achieved significant results. The incidence of cryptorchidism in China is similar to that in other countries, but the proportion of cryptorchid tumors is significantly higher than that in other countries, which may be related to the fact that China has not yet generally performed testicular traction fixation on preschool children with cryptorchidism.

Therefore, testicular cancer is not a contagious disease, and the patient's family members can relax their vigilance in this regard and not implement isolation measures just because a family member has cancer. This will only lead to the patient's resistance, resulting in poor treatment effectiveness and even the breakup of the family.
