How much does chemotherapy for testicular cancer cost

Cancer is no longer a strange term to people today. It is a disease in which some abnormal substances appear in a certain part of the body, invading normal organs and tissues, thus causing the body to be abnormal. Currently, the means of treating cancer are basically surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and the like. So how much does chemotherapy for testicular cancer cost?

In recent years, with the in-depth exploration of various types of cancer, more and more diagnostic and treatment measures have been developed for testicular cancer. Different testicular cancer patients have slightly different initial symptoms. The most obvious feature of the patient is the swelling and hardening of one testicle. As the disease progresses, about 30% to 40% of patients will experience a feeling of heaviness or dull pain, and 10% of patients will experience severe pain due to intratumoral bleeding, necrosis or acute epididymitis. If it reaches the middle and late stages, there will also be symptoms of cancer metastasis such as coughing, hemoptysis, blurred vision, neck lumps, and back pain. In this case, the number of chemotherapy sessions will increase and the cost will also increase accordingly.

Therefore, if one testicle is found to be enlarged and hard as a rock, the possibility of testicular cancer should be highly suspected, and tumor markers should be checked: For example, an increase in blood alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) indicates that it may be testicular embryonal carcinoma; an increase in AFP value indicates that the tumor is highly malignant and easy to metastasize. At the same time, imaging examinations such as B-ultrasound and CT should be performed to understand the nature of the mass, whether there is lymph node enlargement, metastasis, etc. Early detection and treatment of the disease can save treatment costs.

In fact, there are many family members of testicular cancer, mainly germ cell tumors and non-germ cell tumors. Germ cell tumors include seminoma, teratoma, embryonal carcinoma, choriocarcinoma; non-germ cell tumors include gonadal stromal tumor, gonadal germ cell tumor, rete testis adenoma, interstitial tumor, carcinoid, adrenal residual tumor. Among them, germ cell tumors account for more than 90% of testicular cancer.

After being diagnosed with testicular cancer, no matter what type it is, radical orchiectomy and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection are required. During the entire treatment process, B-ultrasound, chest X-ray, and tumor marker examinations are performed regularly to observe the efficacy at any time and adjust the treatment plan.

Early-stage testicular cancer can be cured with immediate chemotherapy, and recovery is fast. The cost of chemotherapy is also very low.
