Various reasons for glioma recurrence

According to experts in neuro-oncology, glioma is the most common malignant tumor in the brain. When it comes to this disease, everyone will think of its prominent feature that it is easy to relapse after surgery. The repeated recurrence of glioma troubles many patients and their families. Therefore, many patients and their families are more concerned about the reasons for the repeated recurrence of glioma. So, the following are the various reasons for the recurrence of glioma.

Glioma grows like tree roots and is difficult to remove surgically. Experts explain: Glioma is the most common primary intracranial tumor. The World Health Organization is also the most authoritative, dividing it into four levels. The higher the level, the higher the malignancy. Moreover, glioma occurs in the central nervous system, and its malignant progression is often accompanied by damage to multiple functions such as movement, language, and sensation, and the quality of life and survival will be significantly reduced in the future.

The tumor tissue of glioma grows in normal brain tissue like the roots of a tree, and it is very difficult to completely remove it surgically. If the scope of resection is blindly expanded during surgery, it will cause loss of neurological function. With the development of radiotherapy technology, Ripda radiotherapy has been more widely used in clinical treatment of various tumors. For glioma, Ripda can be used for preventive irradiation of potential tumors. Many patients are worried that the side effects will be great. Experts tell us that the radiation of Ripda technology is more protective than traditional radiotherapy, and the dose is lower.

Relatively speaking, low-grade gliomas take a long time to recur after treatment. For example, for grade 1 or grade 1-2, ideal patients can have a stable period of 10 to 20 years. For patients with grade 3-4 gliomas, the recurrence period is generally a very large proportion of patients who relapse within 1-3 years of treatment. Of course, the recurrence time is also proportional to the treatment plan. The recurrence time of simple surgery is shorter. For some gliomas in non-functional areas, the resection range is expanded, and whole-brain radiotherapy and gamma knife treatment of residual areas are used after surgery to achieve better results, delay recurrence, and obtain a better survival period.
