What are the types of ovarian tumors

Benign ovarian tumors account for 75% of ovarian tumors. Most of them are cystic, with a smooth surface, clear boundaries and are movable. They account for about 75% of benign ovarian tumors. They are common in patients aged 30 to 40 years old, are mostly unilateral, grayish white in appearance, smooth in surface, mostly unilocular, with thin cyst walls, and contain light yellow, clear and transparent fluid. In some cases, nipples can be seen on the inner wall. Benign ovarian tumors account for 75% of ovarian tumors. Most of them are cystic, with a smooth surface, clear boundaries and are movable.

1. Serous cystadenoma

It accounts for about 25% of benign ovarian tumors and is common in patients aged 30 to 40. It is mostly unilateral. It is grayish white in appearance, smooth in surface, mostly unilocular, with thin cyst wall, and contains light yellow clear and transparent liquid. In some cases, papillary protrusions can be seen on the inner wall, clustered or diffuse, which is called papillary serous cystadenoma. The papilla can protrude from the cyst wall, spread and grow on the surface of the cyst, and even invade adjacent organs. If accompanied by ascites, it is mostly malignant.

2. Mucinous cystadenoma

It accounts for about 15-25% of ovarian tumors and is most common in women aged 30-50. It is usually unilateral. The tumor surface is smooth, bluish-white, and multilocular. The cyst contains lotus root starch-like mucus. Occasionally, there are papillary protrusions in the cyst wall, which is called papillary mucinous cystadenoma. If the cyst wall ruptures, the tumor cells can be implanted on the peritoneum and the surface of the internal organs, producing a large amount of mucus, which is called peritoneal mucinous tumor.

3. Mature teratoma

Also known as cystic teratoma or dermoid cyst. It accounts for about 10-20% of ovarian tumors and 97% of teratomas. Most of them occur in the reproductive age. The tumor is mostly the size of an adult fist, with a diameter of less than 10cm. Most of them are unilateral, and about 25% are bilateral. The appearance is round or oval, yellow-white, smooth, with thick cyst walls, and the cross-section is mostly single-chamber. The cyst often contains sebum and hair, and teeth, bones, cartilage and nerve tissue can also be seen, and thyroid tissue is occasionally seen.

The individual's condition should be determined according to their actual situation. Early prevention, early detection and early treatment of any disease are the fundamentals of maintaining health.
