What are the precancerous manifestations of skin cancer

Skin cancer is a malignant tumor of the skin. There are no obvious symptoms in the precancerous manifestations of skin cancer, but active diagnosis and treatment cannot be ignored for the control of the disease. It is the key for patients to relieve pain and have a healthy life. Here I will introduce to you the precancerous manifestations of skin cancer.

1. A small waxy nodule the size of a millet grain or a pea. Generally, the epidermis is quite hard, and there are often a few dilated capillaries on the surface, which are slightly higher than the skin surface, or just like erythema but not obviously raised, or slightly nodular, with the surface skin slightly sunken. Precancerous manifestations of skin cancer can gradually expand or new lesions appear nearby, merge with each other, and form a disc-shaped plaque with a waxy luster. The center often forms a brown, yellow-brown or dark gray scab, and then ulcers occur under the scab, gradually expanding to form round, oval or irregular ulcers, ranging in size from fingernails to copper coins. The ulcer edges are firm and rolled up, often translucent and uneven, and there is no inflammation in the surrounding skin. The bottom has a pearly or waxy appearance, and sometimes the lesion surface is completely covered by scabs.

2. The nodules are shallower than the plane, and the lesions are the same as those of the nodular ulcer type. Because they contain more pigments, the edges of the lesions have a pearly luster, as well as dark brown or black-brown pigment spots in the form of dots or reticular patterns. Pigmentation can also be seen in the central part. After the scab is formed, it is easy to bleed when the scab is removed. The scab may be dark brown or even charcoal black granules, similar to malignant melanoma, and can be easily misdiagnosed.

3. The precancerous manifestations of this type of skin cancer are often seen on the head and neck. They are hard yellowish or yellowish-white patches that are slightly raised and have unclear boundaries, similar to morphea. They can remain intact for a long time and eventually ulcerate. The lesions are superficial and mostly occur on the trunk. They are one or several infiltrative erythemas with desquamation or crusting on the surface. The edges or the entire lesion are slightly raised, and at least part of the edge is in the form of small pearl-like or linear embankments. This type may eventually become fibrotic. It is similar to psoriasis, eczema or seborrheic dermatitis.
