Cancer nutritional support should follow the following principles

Cancer patients who are severely malnourished or who are expected to have insufficient diet for more than one week due to gastrointestinal disorders and other metabolic, medication, radiotherapy and other factors.

Patients who are well nourished or only mildly malnourished and whose natural diet is expected to be adequate do not require special nutritional support.
