The 7 major hazards of liver cancer are not alarmist

Liver cancer is a common malignant tumor. Its morbidity and mortality rate rank first among cancer tumors. With the development of medical technology, liver cancer can be cured in the early stage. Everyone knows that liver cancer is very harmful, but I believe that everyone is still unclear about what the harm is. So, let's learn about the harm of liver cancer today.

The main hazards of liver cancer are:

1. Gastrointestinal bleeding:

Patients with liver cirrhosis or portal vein or hepatic vein cancer thrombus may suffer from esophageal or gastric fundus varicose vein rupture and bleeding due to portal hypertension. Bleeding may also occur due to gastrointestinal mucosal erosion, coagulation disorder, etc.

2. Secondary infection:

Due to the long-term consumption of cancer, the resistance is weakened, especially those with a decrease in white blood cells after radiation and chemotherapy, which makes them prone to various infections such as pneumonia, intestinal infection, fungal infection, etc.

3. Bloody pleural effusion and ascites:

Diaphragmatic liver cancer can directly infiltrate or metastasize through the bloodstream or lymph nodes to cause bloody pleural effusion, which is common on the right side.

4. Hepatic encephalopathy:

It is often a terminal complication, accounting for 34.9% of the causes of death.

5. Rupture and bleeding of liver cancer nodules:

Necrosis and liquefaction of liver cancer tissue may lead to spontaneous rupture or rupture due to external force. If it is confined to the subcapsular membrane, there may be sudden pain and rapid enlargement of the liver. If it ruptures into the abdominal cavity, it may cause acute abdominal pain and peritoneal irritation. In severe cases, it may cause hemorrhagic shock or death. In mild cases, bleeding stops after a few days and the pain gradually subsides.

6. Hepatic encephalopathy:

Hepatic encephalopathy is the most dangerous complication, accounting for about 34.9% of the causes of death from liver cancer. It often occurs in the terminal stage of liver cancer, mostly due to severe and extensive destruction of the liver parenchyma caused by liver cancer or concurrent liver cirrhosis. The predisposing factors are often upper gastrointestinal bleeding, infection, electrolyte imbalance, large amounts of diuretics or ascites, etc. Its cure rate is low. The prognosis is poor, so it should be actively treated and prevented to avoid the occurrence of its predisposing factors;

7. Hepatorenal syndrome:

Liver cancer patients are often accompanied by liver cirrhosis. When liver function decompensation occurs, they often suddenly or gradually develop functional renal failure symptoms such as oliguria or anuria, azotemia, etc. At this time, there is no organic lesion in the kidneys. Those with acute onset may deteriorate and die in a short period of time. Most of these patients have progressive jaundice, hepatosplenomegaly, hypoproteinemia, and refractory ascites, which are manifestations of liver failure. As the disease worsens, they may show deep coma, severe oliguria, and progressive drop in blood pressure, which can endanger their lives.

The above are some harmful symptoms of liver cancer. Experts say that this is not alarmist, so they hope that patients will be vigilant and actively seek treatment.
