Side effects of muscle-building protein powder

I believe that many people who like fitness have taken protein powder, a health product containing high protein. Because if a fitness person takes protein powder, it can increase the degree of muscle formation, so a fitness person can quickly build muscles. Therefore, in recent years, the demand for protein powder among people who exercise has been increasing, and the types of protein powder on the market have been increasing. But are there any side effects if you consume muscle-building protein powder regularly?

Using protein powder to supplement protein is likely to cause the following consequences:

1. Weakened gastrointestinal function and reduced body resistance

Relying on protein powder to maintain body vitality for a long time will reduce gastrointestinal function and body resistance. Especially for growing infants and children, whose stomachs and intestines need exercise, it is not advisable to supplement nutrients through shortcuts.

2. Increase the burden on the kidneys and cause kidney function to decline

Protein needs to be processed by the liver and converted into the body's own substances. Excessive intake will increase the burden on the liver and kidneys and have adverse effects on the human body. Especially for patients with diseases such as diabetes, nephritis, and renal insufficiency, the degree of kidney damage is more serious, and the appearance of proteinuria is just a manifestation.

3. Cause osteoporosis

After the excess protein in the human body is completely digested and absorbed, the liver will convert it into liver glycogen and muscle glycogen and store it; if the liver glycogen or muscle glycogen is sufficient, it will be converted into fat and stored; this will make people obese. If postmenopausal women consume too much protein, the kidneys will excrete more calcium, reducing the degree of bone sclerosis and causing osteoporosis.

It is understandable that people who are doing bodybuilding and muscle building use protein powder to grow their muscles. However, mothers or people who take protein powder as a nutritional supplement should not take protein powder frequently!

Many of our daily foods contain protein, such as meat, fish, beans, etc. For healthy people, as long as they stick to a normal diet, protein deficiency generally will not occur. As long as you keep your food rich and varied, you can fully meet the body's needs for protein, and there is no need to supplement with protein powder.

So, although protein powder is good, don’t eat it blindly! It can’t be taken as a daily nutritional supplement. The side effects of excessive protein powder are huge!
