What to do if you are allergic to shampoo

There are many varieties of shampoos on the market with different functions. Our common anti-dandruff shampoos and nourishing shampoos achieve different maintenance effects according to the different substances they contain. Some people may be allergic to certain shampoos. This is because the chemical substances in them cause the body to be unable to adapt and the body produces a defensive effect. So, what should you do if you are allergic to shampoo?

1. Dioxane

Dioxane is widely found in personal care products such as toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, hand soap, deodorant, mouthwash, cosmetics, etc. It is not a raw material for production. In my country's national standards, dioxane is prohibited from being added to cosmetics as a production raw material, but because it is widely present in nature, including air, water, tomatoes, peppers and other substances. However, since some cosmetics and toiletries use natural products as raw materials during the production process, the addition of dioxane cannot be completely avoided.

To put it simply: current production technology can only minimize the content of dioxane in cosmetics and toiletries but cannot completely avoid it.

2. Preservatives

Two common preservatives are methylisothiazolinone (MIT) and methylchloroisothiazolinone (CMIT). What exactly are these two substances? What are their chemical composition and functions?

MIT and CMIT are used in shampoo, and their bactericidal function is greater than their preservative function," said Professor Wu Youting.

Do not use anti-dandruff shampoo more than 3 times a week

Anti-dandruff shampoos generally contain a broad-spectrum antifungal drug, ketoconazole, which can quickly relieve desquamation and itching caused by pityriasis capitis, seborrheic dermatitis, etc. However, if you use it too frequently, it will not only fail to remove dandruff, but will make the condition worse.

The antifungal drugs contained in some anti-dandruff shampoos can irritate the scalp and break down and peel off the dry, loose skin surface. Frequent use can make dandruff shedding worse. It is best to use anti-dandruff shampoo once a week. If there is a lot of dandruff, you can increase it to 2 times, but not more than 3 times. Because dandruff does not dissolve during the cleaning process and cannot be washed away by washing alone. The key is to control the production of new oil. Excessive cleaning will destroy the protective oil in the scalp layer.
