A sign of facial atrophy?

Facial atrophy is generally an uncommon disease. When it comes to simple facial atrophy, it is actually a muscle atrophy that occurs in the human face. Suffering from this disease will seriously affect the patient's image. If it is not treated in time, it will not only harm the patient's physical health, but also cause great psychological pressure on the patient. So what are the symptoms of facial atrophy? The following is a detailed introduction to the signs of facial atrophy.

The occurrence of facial muscle atrophy will seriously affect the patient's appearance. Once the disease occurs, it will have a great impact on the patient's life. This is because after patients with facial muscle atrophy become ill, they will develop patchy atrophy symptoms on their forehead and/or cheeks. As the disease progresses, they will develop symptoms such as inability to close the eyes tightly, atrophy of bilateral tongue muscles, difficulty opening the mouth, and difficulty swallowing.

Signs of facial atrophy

1. If you suffer from facial muscle atrophy, the patient's forehead and/or cheeks will have patchy atrophy symptoms, and the local skin color will be darker than other parts. If you pinch the muscles in the atrophied area with your hands, the subcutaneous tissue may also become tense. This disease can begin to occur during adolescence and gradually develop and worsen. As the disease continues to worsen, the patient's facial muscles will continue to atrophy, followed by symptoms such as eyes not closing tightly or inability to bulge cheeks normally. In severe cases, it may even lead to atrophy of the bilateral tongue muscles, causing obvious tremors in the muscle bundles, causing many inconveniences in the patient's life.

2. Patients with facial muscle atrophy usually experience localized atrophy of the temporalis and masseter muscles after the onset of the disease. For example, when opening the mouth, the lower jaw will unconsciously shift toward the affected side. It may also be accompanied by symptoms of weakened corneal reflex or facial sensation. If the symptoms are more severe, loss of facial sensation may also occur.

3. If an adolescent child suffers from facial muscle atrophy, his tongue muscles may suddenly atrophy, accompanied by obvious muscle fasciculations. In severe cases, symptoms such as difficulty in swallowing and dysarthria may also occur.
