Resveratrol efficacy and effects

Resveratrol efficacy and effects

Resveratrol is not a chemically synthesized product, but something extracted from multiple plant fruits. This substance does not seem to be so common in human life. Because since this thing was developed, people seem to know very little about it. But over the years, it has also been used to prevent certain diseases. So what are the functions and effects of such a mysterious substance?

Resveratrol is a polyphenol compound, also known as resveratrol. It is a chemopreventive agent for tumors and also a chemopreventive agent for reducing platelet aggregation, preventing and treating atherosclerosis, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It comes from plants such as peanuts[1], grapes (red wine), Japanese knotweed, and mulberries.

In 2014, scientists conducted research and analysis on the level of resveratrol intake in the human body and the total mortality rate caused by various chronic diseases. The results showed that there was no obvious correlation between dietary intake of resveratrol and longevity, inflammation, cancer and cardiovascular health. Therefore, on the whole, there is currently insufficient evidence to suggest that resveratrol is beneficial to the human body. “At this stage, the scientific community does not have enough knowledge about resveratrol to guarantee that it is beneficial or to prove that it is harmful.

Resveratrol exerts its therapeutic effects through a variety of different pathways.

1. Antipyretic and analgesic effects.

It has certain antipyretic and analgesic activity. In intact mice and rats

Studies have shown that resveratrol can give the gastric mucosa the ability to resist stress ulcers caused by suppressed gastric secretion without affecting blood pressure.

2. Anti-cancer and anti-mutation effects.

Resveratrol has a strong anti-cancer activity in the three stages of cancer development: initiation, promotion and development, and has an inhibitory and even reversal effect on the three stages of cancer development.

3. Cardiovascular protection

In folk medicine, Polygonum cuspidatum, which is rich in resveratrol, has long been used to treat and prevent hyperlipidemia and arteriosclerosis. Studies have shown that resveratrol plays a protective role in cardiovascular health by preventing atherosclerosis and preventing coronary heart disease in the following ways: 1. Regulating blood lipids; 2. Inhibiting platelet aggregation, promoting fibrinolysis, and anti-thrombotic effects; 3. Protecting vascular endothelium and inhibiting endothelial cell proliferation; 4. Protecting vascular smooth muscle cells and inhibiting their proliferation; 5. Anti-leukocyte effects; 6. Antagonizing endothelin-1

(endothelin-1, ET-1) function; 7. Anti-oxidation function of low-density lipoprotein. In experiments on endotoxin- or thrombin-induced platelet activation, it was found that after pre-incubation of platelets washed with resveratrol, the adhesion of platelets activated by lipopolysaccharide alone or lipopolysaccharide and thrombin to collagen was blocked at physiological plasma concentrations. Platelet adhesion to fibrinogen was also blocked by resveratrol pretreatment.
