What to do if the skin on the back of your hands is rough

As the old saying goes: look at a woman’s hands and a man’s shoes. It can be seen that the shape of the hands and the quality of the skin are very important for women's external beauty. Hands are one of the most frequently used parts of the body in our lives and are also a woman’s second face. A pair of hands with delicate and fair skin can definitely add a lot to a woman's beauty, but some women have rough skin on the back of their hands because they do not pay attention to maintenance.

1. Olive oil, sugar and massage can cure roughness

As we age, collagen and elastin levels in the skin begin to decline, wrinkles appear, and the skin loses its elasticity. Sun exposure will accelerate the aging process of the skin. In severe cases, it will cause the skin to become rough and hard, and even cause skin cancer. Experts say that rubbing the skin with household olive oil and sugar can help treat rough skin. Rub and massage the back of your hands with 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil and sugar once a week for excellent results.

2. Apply moisturizer after washing your hands at night

Choose hand care products that contain the same ingredients as your facial moisturizer. For example, products rich in lactic acid (keratin softening and moisturizing effects), moisturizing urea, and natural organic acids that act as keratin exfoliants. These ingredients help keep skin moisturized and soft, says Eric Siegel, a dermatologist in New Jersey. Applying a hand moisturizer after washing your hands at night will help lock in moisture and prevent dryness.

3. Apply hand cream every day to avoid sunburn

To prevent wrinkles, spots and skin cancer, it is best to use a hand cream with an SPF of at least 25. Hand cream also contains glycerin, a rich emollient, and should be applied several times a day.

4. Wash your hands with warm water to prevent dryness

The skin on your hands becomes dry over time. Excessive hand washing, not wearing gloves, and using inferior cleaning agents can cause the skin on your hands to become rough and dry. Using the right moisturizer can keep your hands soft and not tight, and prevent your hands' natural protective oil layer from being stripped away. In addition, it is best to wash your hands with warm water. Washing your hands with water that is too hot will also cause your hands to dry out.

5. Night cream can eliminate fine lines and melasma

Prolonged exposure of hands to ultraviolet rays can easily lead to pigmentation and the formation of freckle-like chloasma. Earlier, people believed that these spots were caused by abnormal liver function, so they were also called "liver spots". Experts say night creams or facial balms containing retinol can help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and fine lines on the face and hands.

6. Hand massage

Apply hand cream or Vaseline on both hands, first massage each hand 5 times, then massage the palms and backs of hands clockwise 10 times, and repeat for 5 minutes to allow the oil to fully moisturize the skin.

7. Exfoliate your hands

Take brown sugar and honey in a 1:1 ratio, mix them in appropriate amounts, then pour them into your palms and apply them evenly. Cross your fingers and massage the backs of your hands to remove dead skin, then wash off with warm water.
