Criteria for judging the degree of hypoxia

Criteria for judging the degree of hypoxia

There are many patients with brain hypoxia in life. Most of them suffer from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. These patients need to carry an oxygen tank at all times, otherwise their lives may be threatened. The degree of hypoxia also has a judgment standard. Patients with mild hypoxia need to exercise their bodies regularly to improve their lung capacity. Patients with severe hypoxia need oxygen supply. So what is the standard for judging the degree of hypoxia?

The degree of hypoxia is determined based on PaO2 and SaO2:

1. Mild PaO2>6.67KPa, SaO2>80%, no cyanosis, in which case the oxygen concentration given is <40%.

2. Moderate PaO2 is between 4~6.67KPa, SaO2 is between 60%~80%, with cyanosis and difficulty breathing. At this time, oxygen concentration of 40%~60% is given.

3. Severe PaO2 <4KPa, SaO2 <60%, significant cyanosis, extreme breathing difficulty, and the appearance of the three-depression sign. At this time, the oxygen concentration of >60% should be given. In addition, hyperbaric oxygen therapy refers to the inhalation of 100% oxygen concentration at a pressure of 2.0~0.3MPa in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

Hypoxia refers to a pathological process in which insufficient oxygen supply or oxygen utilization disorder in tissues leads to abnormal changes in the metabolism, function and morphological structure of tissues. Hypoxia is a very common pathological process in various clinical diseases. Hypoxia of important organs such as the brain and heart is also an important cause of death. In addition, the significant decrease in arterial oxygen content leads to insufficient oxygen supply to tissues, which is also called hypoxemia.

Hypoxia refers to the lack of endogenous oxygen, which is the oxygen bound to cells.

The body's uptake and utilization of oxygen is a complex biological process. Generally speaking, to determine the state of tissue's acquisition and utilization of oxygen, two factors need to be tested: the tissue's oxygen supply and the tissue's oxygen consumption.
