What disease will you get if you induce vomiting frequently

Vomiting is a very common phenomenon, and now many people use vomiting to lose weight. Vomiting weight loss method seems to be a best of both worlds method, but in fact it is very harmful to the human body. If vomiting is induced for a long time, it will cause gastric juice to reflux into the esophagus, and indirectly burn the esophagus, and it will also easily cause malnutrition. If you want to lose weight, it is best to choose a healthy and scientific weight loss method. Vomiting is very harmful to the human body.

What harm does vomiting do to the body?

1. Damage to teeth

Teeth are the hardest part of the human body, but they cannot withstand the repeated erosion of stomach acid. Repeated vomiting over a period of time can cause damage to your teeth, and the enamel on the inside of your front teeth will be corroded.

Dental filling materials do not erode, so they tend to protrude higher on the tooth surface than enamel. The erosion is irreversible, but it is not progressive - as long as you stop inducing vomiting, the erosion of your teeth will be stopped. Brushing your teeth right after inducing vomiting can accelerate tooth decay rather than help keep your teeth clean.

2. Damage to the throat

Inducing vomiting can cause damage to the surface of the throat, and the wound may become infected. Therefore, people who induce vomiting clinically often experience sore throat and hoarseness.

3. Scars on the hands

For some people who use their fingers to induce vomiting, the friction between their fingers and teeth will leave marks on their hands, eventually forming scars. Therefore, vomiting may also cause permanent scars on the body.

4. Swollen salivary glands

Near our mouth, we have salivary glands that secrete saliva. For some people who induce vomiting, their salivary glands gradually begin to swell. This process is not painful, but it will increase saliva secretion.

Usually the parotid gland (the one that gets infected during mumps) is the most swollen, making the person's face look round and chubby. People with enlarged parotid glands generally feel that their faces look fat and assume that the rest of their bodies look as "fat" as their faces.

Naturally, they become more concerned about their body shape and weight. (But you are not fat! Your face is just a little swollen) Swelling of the salivary glands is reversible and will subside once the eating problem is improved.

5. Damage to the esophagus

Although rare, research and clinical experience indicate that vigorous vomiting may cause esophageal lacerations. If there is blood in your vomit, be sure to seek medical attention. This could potentially be life-threatening.

6. Irregular heartbeat

Frequent vomiting can have serious physical effects, especially if you drink large amounts of fluids and vomit until you have nothing left to vomit.

Inducing vomiting can affect the body's water content and electrolyte levels. Vomiting can cause fluctuations in body fluids. The electrolytes in body fluids are very important for maintaining muscle function. The heart is also a muscle, so vomiting may cause arrhythmia, which can be fatal in severe cases. Perhaps the most dangerous of these electrolyte imbalances is low potassium levels, as they can cause irregular heart rhythms.

An imbalance in the balance of body fluids and electrolytes can cause extreme thirst, dizziness, swelling of the legs and arms, feeling weak, muscle twitches or spasms, and even seizures. Electrolyte imbalances are reversible and will return once vomiting stops.

Most of the time the body will adjust on its own, but if you do experience any of the above issues and they are not resolving, be sure to seek medical attention and do not attempt to treat the problem on your own.

7. Burns to the esophagus

Inducing vomiting can cause gastric reflux. The pH value of pure gastric juice is 0.9-1.5. Anyone with a little knowledge of chemistry knows that this is a strong acid. Food and gastric juice flow back through the esophagus and mouth, causing damage along the way. If gastric juice repeatedly flows back, it may even burn the lining of the esophagus, and blood may be seen in the vomited food. This situation is very serious. You must seek medical attention promptly and be honest about your condition.
